A new heading? It sounds like the discussion forums have spent the mods and it's no longer worth the effort or expense to keep them running. Certainly, it is a sign that no new forums are likely.

I think he's talking about when you go to the home page, the heading on the web browser no longer says Discussion forums.

Geoff, this is your store. You didn't know?

The old heading of your cover page read:

DVDTalk.com - dvd news, reviews, bargains, and discussion forum

The new heading:

DVDTalk.com - DVD News, Reviews, and Release Info

Who's at the helm?

Ohhhhh thaaaaaaat.

You're reading waaaaaay to much into that.

I changed the title because it's one of the elements which search engines use to index and rank our site. I've been doing some search engine optimization and more people search for the words:

'DVD Reviews'
'DVD Release Info'
'DVD News'

Than anything else.

The title change on the front page in NO way reflects ANY change in ANY of the content or priorities for DVD Talk.

Also, if you have i.e. we created a fav.icon which should appear in your bookmarks for DVD Talk

You mean that

'DVD Reviews'
'DVD Release Info'
'DVD News'

beat out

'DVD Players'

not to mention

'DVD Porn'
'DVD Sex'
'DVD Babe(s)'

and all of the variations that, no doubt, will follow.

Acutally DVD Players WAS pretty high up there. But since we don't really have a DVD Player section, I couldn't really put that in the title.

As for DVD babes, porn etc..... Not something we'd put in our title.

A store is a store

You may not sell the equipment directly, but speaking for myself, I lurked a bit during the summer of 1999, and the information that I found here and at other sites sent my laserdisc player into retirement. I joined TALK to ask a *hardware* question.

Folks who are considering the purchase of a player are your kind of people and I would plant 'DVD Players' on your doorstep. I wouldn't have felt mislead if a search for a player brought TALK to the surface. That was exactly what I was looking for.
