Why is this site so *slow*???

DVD Talk Limited Edition
I have a direect T1 connection, and have become quite frustrated with the dvdtalk forums. Opening threads takes *forever* to open, and stalls any other open windows at the same time. Can this be fixed somehow? I don't have this problem with any other sites (except for the occasional slow page, of course!), but every thread opening on dvdtalk is very slow! I don't have this consistent slowdown with any other site that I visit; most pages load almost instantly. I usually wind up leaning on the "stop loading" button until my browser pauses from the slow loading to recognize it, and often cut off the last few messages on a page just so I don't have to wait forever.
I love this site but it's gotten to the point where I don't spend much time on it (and skip many things I'd like to explore!) because it is so goshdarned slow. Please speed things up!!!!

Have you tried a "trace route"?
Sometimes it is not the site per se, but the route between it and your service provider. That may account for why you don't have problems with other sites; the data takes a different route.
I am connecting from the UK with a dial-up connection and a 28.8 modem!
Sometimes, yes, it slows down in the manner that you describe although if you are on a T1 then I doubt it is just the site itself that is the source of your woes. Sometimes there is also the interraction with web proxy-caches, the forum software and your own browser.
Using the "tracert" function might narrow it down. I expect Geoff would be interested in the results.

It is the adds...really messed me up for the longest time, and I had to use a proxy to surf here. It has to do with your ISP..and the way it gets to the site. My ISP updated some stuff, and things work fine now.
