Were this the 'Let's introduce David Stein to the Real World' forum, I would be more sympathetic to this argument. We're trying to maintain a community here and this community will be polite, regardless.

That said, the words of some of you, most importantly David, have made me reconsider my decision. I'm going to unsuspend Javajive. Still, I really do not want to encourage threads like this. If I notice a proliferation of "let me criticize the mod" threads, I'm going to ask Geoff to do something about it. The best way to express your concerns is through private mail, as the discussions tend to be more frank and there is less chance for posturing.

Let me tell you all, were I particularly concerned about my image, I would be far less likely to change my mind on a decision when "called out" in the forum as opposed to you raising issues in private mail. Luckily, I care more about the overall health of the community and less about what people think of me on DVDTalk.

Finally, let me reiterate, there is no tolerance for personal attacks. This was a borderline case, where I still feel a suspension was in order, but it seems a number of people see differently and it is fuzzy enough that I'll change over. You should feel free to criticize ideas, but do not criticize people here. As well, consider your tone as that can contribute to a hostile environment.

The ONLY reason I felt that I had to contribute was because this action was prompted by comments directed toward me. Had that not been the case, I wouldn't have gotten involved here. This second-guessing of the moderators' actions is getting out of hand...

But thanks for the consideration, Bushdog. Again, let me applaud you for having done a great job thus far.

What desmondp said.

There were some more thoughts but, as things have moved on, I think that all that is now called for is a small and satiric IBTL. (But many a true word is spoken in jest!)

VICTORY IS MINE!

Javajive can thank me later....

Would the 'victory' comment be considered posturing?

Er yeah, most likely, so let's try to curb the end zone dance, shall we?

that's fair enough Randy, if he decided to be stupid then he deserves it !

For the record i agree with Bushdog closing the thread

it was just a warning over a suspension i thought was more appropriate

oh well it doesn't matter now anyway !

As I've said before. It's really hard to second guess the mods. often things go on behind the scenes that everyone isn't privy to.

Closing Thread.
