I'd like to know if it's possible for the current forum software to be set according to each member's preference to show or not to show signatures in posts. Either that or can we please have a limit of three lines? That'd probably be best! Threads can end up being twice as long with some of the longer signatures a few heavier posting members have.

Excessively long sigs are the Devil's own handiwork. It's even worse when people post a one-liner response to a post, forget to switch their sig off, and end up with a one-line post followed by a 20-line signature
Maybe if the default signature state was set to "off" so that people had to consciously switch their sig on if they wanted it to appear after a post? After all, most short posts don't really need a sig after them, this way if someone posted a lengthy reply they could choose to have their signature on for that post only...

100% agree. But last time it was discussed there were peeps who thought otherwise.
I turn my sig off on a post by post basis but would definitely prefer to turn it on on a post by post basis!

If you're going to limit the amount of character in a name, you might as well limit the characters in a sig as well. Long, multiline sigs are annoying, especially when someone posts a one line reply.
