I posted something similiar a while ago, but I deleted it because I thought I had become too personal in its construction and by the time someone had finished reading it, they weren't inclined to add anything.

There is no haven here for Nature. Nature topics sink like a stone in the frenzy of the other forum. We owe all we are and all we ever will be to Nature. It could be a quiet respite, what the other forum used to be, before it turned on itself.

Perhaps something not so specific...to give it more reason for being (nto to argue that Nature in itself is not enough reason of course).

Perhaps a Nature, Science, and Technology Forum?

The only downside is that the more forums we create, the more things get splintered off....and we do create the one thing we railed against. We sent off the meaty topics to other forums...and then complain that the Other Forum is less meaty. But look at the posts in TV, Video Game, etc.

Just some thoughts...

Would Tulip posts (posts pertaining to tulips) be allowed in this forum?

It's huge

Nature is big, really big. It's the Universe, in its broadest sense. We wouldn't have Science or Technology if Nature didn't allow it.

The other forum has gone its own way and its main feature is its lack of focus. It has no mission other then zzzzzzz.
And it works. I'm not a regular fan, but I show up from time to time.

When I found the article about that very short instant of time, .0000000000000000000000000000001 second, I was stunned. I had no idea that the theorists had pushed the birth of the Universe that far back in time. I don't know who these people are, their quotes were very brief and the article was mostly the creation of its author. I will have to bump it up, I'm trying to attract Otto's attention and he doesn't accept email from TALK. I think that fraction is in string territory, beyond uncertainty. I'm a nerd, I get excited by this stuff.

Anyway, that instant of time is very, very short. Call it Science, call it Nature, call it frivolous, it was big news to me, which is why I posted it. The only available avenue was the other and it set another record when it plunged to its death. It's like throwing a rock at Jupiter. Zam it's been swallowed.

There is no way to predict how a forum will bloom, but you can give it a positive nudge. Tulip posts are welcome. There are tulips all over my neighborhood and I was quite disappointed that my prints did not reflect what I saw through the lens.

How about a 1967 Jaguar XKE tri-carburetor tuning forum? I'd be really interested in that! Please?

Yes. It's perfectly natural for that to happen here. So why mess with nature?

It's survival of the fittest.

The other forum is leaking again.

Cute, guys.

I wasn't here when TALK was launched, but I don't recall a time when topics were limited to the general audio/video environment of dvds. The other forum was always there and GK has always supported its growth. A lot of people, perhaps people such as yourselves, would have little to say to each other if the 'other' forum was abandoned.

The 'other' forum has been packed for quite some time and I am sure that you all know that. New forums will not ease the congestion there, but they would offer fresh, hopefully positive alternatives.

Soup Nazi, you quoted wlcohen, and said, "Word!". I'm assuming that your meaning was that you agreed with him, but I don't know the source of that colloquialism. Do you?

I think the source is contained in his signature.
