As suggested, but deleted, during the great crash of '01:
I recently found some decent Criterion titles at a local Barnes & Noble here in Wisconsin (Bluemound Rd. in Brookfield). I thought about posting this to the Bargain or Store Forum, but I thought, why would anyone in the other 49 states and beyond care about what can be found in the Badger State?
That's why I propose a State by State Forum. It would have 50 threads, one for each state. This would be great for alerting in-state DVDTalkers to great sales at B&Ms, stores that are closing or moving, organizing get-togethers, and just getting to know people with common interest in the area. Granted some states are bigger than others, and bargains found in L.A. may not matter to someone in San Francisco, but who knows. Maybe there's a lonely DVDTalker in Idaho, thinking she/he is the only one in the state, but we could help that lonely fool find someone nearby to trade with and so on.
Thoughts? Suggestions? Insults?

How about by zip code. That way if someone recommends a DVD in my forum, I could just go over to his house and borrow it.

For the record, I visited the B&N in Brookfield yesterday and they only had 2 OOP Criterions and only 1 copy of each. Nothing special though, just RoboCop and The Unbearable Lightness Of Being.

We all know how useful a single thread would be, esp as it grew and grew over time.

Yeah, I agree, Bushdog. Probably more useful along those lines than a new forum and 50 threads would be another software package. I'm sure something like that's available at http://php.resourceindex.com/ , and probably for free.
If not, I could always write one for the site.

This is an interesting notion. I don't know if yet another forum is needed, but if we were to start one, I suggest the following:
It should be called the Local Forum. Each thread will be a locale (only mods could start new threads/locales) and deals for that locale would be posted in it. The locales could be cities, states, or regions (depending on where the active DVD Talkers live). There would also be one thread which would be titled "Request New Locales."

Following on from what <b>namja</b> said, Geoff could also create a new space for diets/dieters called the Lo-Cal Forum. They would be put next to each other on the listing and anyone who misposted would be immediately <b>[BANNED]</b>.
