Lawrence of Arabia

I have a question regarding the Lawrence of Arabia DVD on this list. Is there an additional L.o.A. DVD in the works that will be released in addition to the already released 2-disc edition? I would like to know before I dish out the $30+ for the current edition. Thanks.

Piazza 07-16-02 05:24 PM

I would love a re-release of arachnophobia a special edition would be nice but i would settle for just a anamorphic transfer. Maybe they can release it to tie in with Eight Legged Freaks dvd release. That would be cool!

Sorry, I can't read all 6 pages to look for this but any word of a Spider-man DVD after the first DVD? Maybe includes more extras on a separate disc?

So wait a minute...you want to know about a re-release of a release that hasn't yet been released???? -rolleyes- Seeing as you couldn't bother to actually search or read the thread - Patience obviously isn't your particular strength - might i suggest some deep breathing and perhaps a yoga class?

On a brighter note: BV has announced an SE of The Grifters to be released on 9/24 - it includes a commentary with the director, Cusack, and Anjelica Houston along with two docs. I'm a bit annoyed that this was never rumoured here as I picked up the "OOP" snapper a couple of months ago...but that's what ebay's for right? :)

spike-spiegel 07-19-02 08:58 AM

So I guess it's also safe to assume that Minority Report will get a really good release since it was a blockbuster movie.

There's not too many movies that I want now, save up for later this year. :D

Office Space (2002, SE, 16:9)

So this referring to a special edition, not the full screen version being released on 8/27? And it's in bold, meaning there is some certainty? Just wanted to clarify b/c it's on sale at Costco for $9.99 right now, but I'll hold out if there really is an SE coming.

Any word when Universal well re-release these two sci-fi classics The Andromeda Strain and This Island Earth. I know both titles are OOP and just wondering what are the chances these two well ever get another re-released. Thank

alegriaman 07-22-02 10:13 AM

Bad Lieutenant is being re-released as a barebones widescreen anamorphic dvd on August 27, 2002.

Mikko, you must be starting to get lazy, because the original list hasn't been updated in several weeks. I appeciate you hard work in maintaining this incredibly useful list. Please don't give up on all your fellow dvdtalkers now!!!!!

MistisoMan 07-23-02 02:30 AM

Just curious if there is any word on a rerelease of 16 candles with all the original audio, not a rerelease of the current OOP DVD that the songs were changed on?

Piazza 07-25-02 11:33 PM

anyone think we will see a re-issue of the Deniro flick "Midnight Run" ?

ur2punk 07-26-02 05:48 PM

I see that the movie 'Black Rain' is back to being BOLD again ... anyone have any info on this rumor?

Imhotep 07-26-02 10:33 PM

Any more word on the SE of Robin Hood: PoT, the Tom Clancy movies and Crimson Tide? I've been waiting for these for quite some time. I don't wanna be buying matted widescreen DVDs.

highdef 07-27-02 05:22 AM

ROBIN HOOD: POT will be out for sure, either by the
year's end or early next year. As for the Tom Clancy films,
16x9 reissues of the entire series will be released when
THE SUM OF ALL FEARS hits DVD. I wouldn't even rule
out a box-set, who knows? So far as CRIMSON TIDE is concerned, I haven't heard anything as of yet.

I hope that this helps

Yeah, I thought they'd do that with the Tom Clancy flicks. That is wait till Sum comes out before they reissue those.

The reason I asked about Crimson is because now that K-19 is out in theaters I'm looking to build a modern sub movie collection. I've got Das Boot and U-571, so a modern sub set is next.

The 2 Disc SE of Star Trek III: The Search for Spock has a release date of 10/22/02.

Well considering all the initial Star Trek discs were bare bones releases, I'd say it's a safe bet that the TNG movies will get Special Edition releases. I'd like to know if First Contact had any additional footage of the Borg battle at the beginning.

MisterPib 07-28-02 11:08 PM

I notice that HARRY POTTER is in bold, but
I can't find any info *anywhere* about a
re-release. Anybody have any info?

Thanks in advance.
Pib.

huzefa 07-29-02 10:04 AM

Any update on The Game SE? Will it be released on 8/27?

spike-spiegel 07-29-02 10:24 AM

Someone told me a Special Edition Spider-man 2 disc will be available.

Rl3058 07-29-02 03:15 PM

Hi Guys,
I got some news for you all. Stargate UE will be released on 10/22/02. I found the picture of the rear cover of my insert in the Director's Edition of Frank Herbert's Dune, and I got the date from http://www.digitalbits.com/

Spy Kids SE

It sounds like Spy Kids: SE won't drop this year after all...

from latinoreview.com:

Do you have any plans for the DVD and also a special edition of the first Spy Kids?

RR: Yeah I didn't know when to put out the special edition I've always been so busy, and I thought we are already doing Spy Kids 3 and it will be out next July 23, that means the DVD will come out that Christmas. I think I'll wait until then to do a triple box set that has all the making of's, and all the fun film school for kids, and do just one big thing, so I don't have to sell the people the same movie twenty times.

So does that mean this one will also come out as just the movie before you do a three pack?

RR: Right. This will probably come out, I think, in December or something.

So the extra scene you put into Spy Kids 1 that won't be available until…

RR: It won't be available, that's the best scene in the movie too. It's a great scene, they go swimming through a cave of sleeping sharks and they wake all the sharks up.

....he can't mean that they'll never put the shark scene on a DVD. That would be a dirty, dirty bastid trick of him to play.
