I put money on it being the same transfer, but there won't be a lot of unused space on the disc. Remember that both the old and this new R2 release have DTS (same goes for the Region 4). Hence the only way to get these new extras is to use a 4th disc.

I found out that Convoy is being released in widescreen on 10/25/05 by a place called "Music Video Distributors". It shows up on DVD Price Search and Deep Discount DVD now.

I posted a message in the main DVD Talk forum asking if anyone knows any details about this.

I don't know if a different third-party re-release of this movie qualifies it for this list. I didn't see Convoy listed on the first page of this thread, but it must be mentioned somewhere in this long thread (because the search tool showed this thread but sadly it doesn't take you to the page where the match was found).

From my other thread, I was told the 10/25 release of Convoy is just the old release which I was told is not in the proper aspect ratio under a different name. So in effect it's a non-release. Darn. I had wanted to buy this so much, but I'll just have to keep waiting until a real studio releases it properly.

a VERY strong rumour from a good source is that ALL of the KUBRICKs that WB own will get the deluxe 2-disc treatment- disc 1, in the 'flat' 4:3, so-called SK "preferred" version-(excepting 2001-which will be a 2 disc SE); disc 2 will be matted 16:9- WS; plus whatever goodies they can dig up to add, as the SK Estate is finally opening up the storage lockers...

ANASTASIA-I wouldnt hold my breath on FOX-

I'm most interested in the Planet of the Apes sequels. It would be nice to have some new materials such as interviews and commentaries from surviving cast and crew members along with extras (outtakes, test footage, production stills etc.) I'd especially love to see the "extended version" of Battle, which includes the scenes of the mutants with their atom bomb and really brings the series full circle. I know it was shown on TNT some years back so I'm sure Fox can find a print of it.

Just to do my share, I've just ordered the Special Edition of Planet of the Apes from DeepDiscount, to help bolster sales and get interest going in the sequels.

Has there been any recent information on the much delayed True Lies special edition that was originally suppose to be a FOX five star edition?Now that fox does not make the five star anymore,I have yet to hear anyhting about it almost like it has been forgotten,i know they started it but has it been canceled or just put on the back burner.I would love a new HD Anamorphic transfer with 6.1 DTS and a special 2 disc set,every Cameron release thus far has received special treatment along with the current Titanic 3 Disc.True Lies cannot be far behind,hopefully one of the first batch of Blu-Ray releases next year.
