DVDFILE (7-18-03):
"Rounding out this week's news is the return of one of the most beloved romantic comedies of our time, Sleepless in Seattle (or, depending on how you look at it, one of the most gag-inducing). On September 23rd, Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment will release a 10th Anniversary Edition of the film complete with anamorphic widescreen and full screen versions, an audio commentary by director Nora Ephron, the "Love in the Movies" featurette, the "When I Fall In Love" music video by Celine Dion & Clive Griffin, and talent files. Retail is $19.95."

This sounds identical to the current SE.
Anybody know differently?

Good thread. Correct me if I'm wrong but on the Enough and Enigma listings, the date of re-release will be 9-16-03. This is from the studio press release. If this has changed I apologize for the post. The back cover artwork states "Re-mastered" on the Enigma release. Would sure like to hear if this is true and what the new transfer looks like...

I bought the international version from best buy for $23. What is going to be the difference between my international version and this new version coming out? Mine already has a newly remastered anamorphic transfer, 5.1DD and a slew of other extras. Why buy the new one?

DTS.

I'm sticking with my international version though. I like the isolated score and am not bothered about DTS in this particular case.

According to dvdfile.com, there's a new version of Rudy coming out on 9/30/03?

Receiving their first-ever DVD releases are a clutch of library favorites. An underrated sleeper, the feel-good sports drama Rudy at last gets the special edition treatment. Starring Lord of the Rings' Sean Astin, this two-disc set includes the film's original soundtrack CD as the bonus disc, along with a remastered version of the film in anamorphic widescreen, a Dolby Digital 5.1 remix, audio commentary by director David Anspaugh and members of the cast and crew, deleted scenes, a featurette, talent files and trailers. Retail is $27.95.

Along with the other Superbits mentioned, you can add Dr. Strangelove. It is slated for a September release in Japan.

According to Amazon, the only difference is you get a $10 GC from Starbucks. Since I don't drink coffee, I'll stick with the OOP SE.

There definatly needs to be a re-release of 'Nothing but Trouble'. I saw it at Wal Mart for $5.88. But then I saw it was full screen only and came in a snapper! Ugh.

Better add Total Recall Extreme Edition to the list...

Artisan Home Entertainment [...] which earlier this summer released a Terminator 2 "Extreme Edition" that included a high-definition version of the 1991 film now plans a similar release and promotion for Total Recall.

"With a title like Total Recall, how could we not?" says Artisan's Jeff Fink.

Update

Added Total Recall, Running Man, For A Few Dollars More, Gods and general, Dr. Strangelove Superbit (just a rumor).

Also added some Lions Gate signature series titles. These include Cat’s Meow, Chinese Box (has been on the list previously but put back due to delayed release date), Lovely & Amazing, Once In The Life.

Removed Howling, Q, Animal House, Desperado, El mariachi, Vampires, Quick And The Dead, Starship Troopers, Sure Thing, Vacation, The One, Commitments, Day Of The Dead, Casablanca, Halloween, American Pie 1 and 2, The Ring.

Buena Vista has made a deal with MGM and about 60 titles that were previously licenced to Anchor Bay are going to be re-released by MGM. I’m not sure if these will be any different from the previous releases (well, the cover art will change) but at least some of them may contain new features. If someone knows more about this BV/AB/MGM thing and what titles will differ from the previous versions, please post.

I wonder if Ocean's 11 will have an SE of some kind.

Certainly was popular enough to warrant it or at the very least a non snapper release...

Hopefully using some of the funky poster art for the cover. I suppose if they did make one it would coincide with the theatrical release of Ocean's 12.

The first of these has already hit the stands: THE FLAMINGO KID. I imagine reviews will start trickling in soon and we'll know if it is the same transfer or a new one. I do know that both disks are "extras" free...
