I am so sorry for not sticking threads - my mind and attention has been on healing a broken leg that happened back in March.

Yesterday, I watched the worst movie of 2025 to an 2009 anime movie that got added to the Criterion channel. "Fixed" on Netflix is pure dog caca. "Redline" on the other hand was just stunning and I loved it.

Oh, that is frustrating. Many years ago, I had to stop driving for about 4-5 months myself because of medical reasons and while the first month I was too out of it to care, it did get annoying not being able to just get in the car and go. But regaining that freedom was amazing!

I started watching Star Trek: Prodigy season two and quickly realized I never finished season one. Had to go to the library and check out the DVD so I could catch-up. I'll get back to season two tomorrow. I still don't like the characters at all but as a Trekkie, I gotta watch it.

I watched a couple of episodes of ST:Prodigy when it began and just didn't like it at all. I've never felt the need to try again... It's much the same for Lower Decks, but I'm willing to give that one another chance. FWIW I didn't care for ST:The Animated Series for decades (when it originally aired I fully wrote it off after a few episodes and only purchased it on DVD when I found it cheap at WM). It's only in the last 15 or so years that it's grown on me a bit. A large part of my overall dissatisfaction with TAS is due to Filmation being the studio behind it. It looks and sounds like most of the generic junk coming from them in those years. Shatner also didn't do the series any favors with his rather "phoned in" sounding dialog.

Oh and I had NO idea that another season of Fraggle Rock had dropped on Apple TV plus, I am loving it - episode "The Glow" with Cynthia Erivo voicing and singing as a Fraggle "Catch the Wind" impressed the hell out of me (I did a lipsync of it on Tiktok)

TAS has its moments, but in general it's not that great. I was binge-watching it a few years ago, and it's definitely not suited for that lol. Lower Decks took me a while to get into, but I liked it, especially the second season. I haven't tried Prodigy.
Probably not suited for this thread, but that's why it's so hard to get elder drivers to give up the keys. They lose control over their own lives.

I've actually had this convo recently with my mom. She's almost 81. For the last 2 years or so, I've pretty much done the majority of the driving anywhere past the town we live in (or in town if I am available) and she's been okay with that. So far, she is still good to go in the neighborhood for the doctors, groceries, and what not, but at this point I think even she knows freeway/faster than 55 driving isn't the wisest. I think it's definitely a conversation that should happen widely though once anyone hits a certain age.

Random question for you all, how many of you take advantage of your library? I'm fortunate to have one about 5 blocks from my house, which makes it really easy to pick things up. I also appreciate that it's part of a larger consortium of libraries so I can easily go online and reserve materials. I try to plan a little bit ahead just for travel time of the item if it's for a challenge (though if needed/wanted, about 10 of the libraries are within easy driving distance) but I love stumbling across something that I can use right away. The amount of money I've saved over the years isn't bad either...!
Today I was in my local library and found The Wild Robot. I hadn't even realized it was out on disc yet. I hope to get to it in the next day or so. I do enjoy having access to so many options for these challenges that I otherwise wouldn't pay for or have access too because they are out of print.

I am all about the local library especially for challenges. As I mentioned earlier, I checked out Prodigy from the library for this challenge. I also checked out The Next Generation Season 1 yesterday for research since that's the one season I don't own. Libraries are great for the Oscar Challenge.

I've been watching The Flintstones and encountered a *crossover* episode (S6:E6) of sorts which I'd never seen before. Samantha and Darrin Stephens, voiced by Elizabeth Montgomery and Dick York of Bewitched, moved into the neighborhood.
I found it entertaining for sure. I have to imagine kids at the time who were unfamiliar with these guest stars might have been a little confused.

I rarely get out to my local library in person nowadays. However, my branch does participate in Kanopy, so I do on occasion use my library for that.
Re: TAS. I have always had kind of an affinity for TAS. Mainly because of certain characters. For instance, TAS introduced me to Caitians, in Lt. M'Ress. And I remember particularly enjoying a couple episodes such as the mini pocket dimension version of the Bermuda Triangle.

I think they're great for most challenges...It's been a while since I've done the Criterion Challenge, but I know the majority of my watches came from the library, especially before they had a streaming service.
There is a checklist item: Mostly or all CGI. If you're not doing the checklist, it'd still count as long as the majority is CGI. I'd say 70-80% on screen. I'll trust your best judgement.
I am going to have to see if I can find this. Do you have it on disc or are you streaming somewhere?
I have to admit to never hearing about Kanopy before. That's a pretty cool service! Unfortunately, my library doesn't seem to be part of it. I'll have to bring it up with the librarian and see if it might be an option at some point.

I have too many media choices already and don’t need to get more at the library

Re: The 16th Annual Animation Challenge Discussion Thread
I've been watching a few things from my "unwatched" pile.
One absolute surprise has been Space Stars. I never watched this one during its original airings as that was in 1981 and I'd pretty much stopped watching Saturday morning cartoons by then. My daughter was 2 and too young to care at that point. I read about it many months back and saw it includes new episodes of Space Ghost and Herculoids which made it a "must buy" item.
I started watching it last night, not expecting much, as it'd been 14+ years since those 2 original series had first aired and this one's airing. Wow! It's absolutely superb! If I didn't know I'd think those Space Ghost and Herculoids segments were some I'd somehow missed during the original airings! They're that good. And the new segments, Teen Force, Astro and the Space Mutts, and Space Stars Finale (where all 4 team up), aren't "groaningly bad" like many other Saturday morning cartoons from the 70s but are quite watchable. This series would easily be at home in a 60s cartoon schedule and doesn't feel/look at all like it's from the early 80s.

I hope that your leg is doing much better!
