Think it changed a couple years ago to take advantage of the Thanksgiving movies/shows.

Been watching old holiday TV shows. Kind of fun to just have a mixture of different shows to watch rather than binging on just one particular show.

I hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving! I got together with my family for a Cajun-inspired feast, and I snuck off to watch part of the MST3K Turkey Day marathon. Last year, my family's Thanksgiving was cancelled due to a COVID scare so this year's festivities felt extra special.

God be with anyone who does. As a rule, I disapprove of multitasking while watching anything but remember that you won't get this time back.

I hereby formally opt into this generous offer. I don't want the Giveaway Monster to be hungry, particularly during the holiday season.

Re: It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like The 17th Annual DVDTalk Holiday Challenge (11/21 - 1/1)

Took the time this afternoon to sit down and watch 8-Bit Christmas . Definitely going to go into my annual rotation, as I enjoyed it very much. Not just because it was about Nintendo, but Neil Patrick Harris telling the story to his daughter reminded me very much of a A Christmas Story vibe.

I'm in (thought not for the exploitation bundle). Thanks for your generosity. How Christmasy of you! :-)

I'm in as well (though not for the exploitation bundle). This is really nice of you! Thank you!

I've been having fun going through two cheap holiday DVD packs the last week. There are a fair few that crossover between the two sets, but a ton of unique content on both. That being said, it's all public domain so quite a bit of it is grainy or jumpy. It's kind of like digging for treasure. The good gems are hard to find, but it's worth digging through to find them!

My challenge viewing took a big hit today. My satellite receiver is on the fritz, and a technician can’t come out until December 13. I am limited now to what I already have on my DVR, and what I can find to stream. I don’t have many Christmas movies on DVD, other than the 1951 A Christmas Carol.

That stinks! If you still have internet, I've seen streaming all the new Lifetime, Hallmark, and GAC movies on frndly. It's pretty cheap and they have everything at the same time cable does. Might be worth getting for a month and then cancelling.

I've been considering something similar to that myself. At least for the month.

shadokitty, don't forget about your local library! They'll likely have quite a few holiday movies or be able to request them. If it's like my local system, you can do most of it online and have access to a large selection from multiple libraries. I just requested a couple myself as I ran across a couple of oldies I haven't watched before (The Shop Around the Corner is the one I remember right now requesting).

I watched Santa Claus last night. The one that was made in Mexico, then dubbed into English. Satan/Stitch is in it trying to get rid of Santa. One of the most bizarre holiday movies I've watched. I'm almost positive I've watched this before but as a MST3K film. I mean, I thought Santa Conquers the Martians was interesting, but this one...yikes.

I guess I got lucky. I called Dish yesterday to see if any appointments had opened up, and Dish was able to send a technician today. I'm back up and running. Wind had pulled my cable out of the connector. He strung a new cable in just 30 minutes.

Thank you for the giveaway!

If anyone likes holiday competition shows, Baking It on Peacock was pretty good, its sort of a spin off another great competition show Making It.

Good news!

I've been watching a lot of Hallmark, GAC Family, & Lifetime, but the few stand outs to me lately were not those.
- Silent Night (on Amazon - you can sub to AMC+ for 7 days for free). Christmas-eco horror (but horror light). I loved it.
- The Advent Calendar (Shudder) - pretty fun Christmas horror. unique.
- Single All The Way (Netflix) - clever script with Kathy Najimi and Jennifer Coolidge and a gay holiday romance twist. I gave it a 10/10
