RIP Samuel Scott, creator of DVD Compare
This was posted on DVD Compare's Facebook page
I know I consider DVD Compare an invaluable site and I honestly probably use it multiple times a week.
I didn't know Sam, but this hit me hard, especially since he was only 36.
EDIT: Apparently he was the owner and not the creator. Still a big loss.
RIP - Site Owner Samuel Scott (1984-2020)
It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that we have to inform you our site owner Samuel Scott suddenly passed at the young age of 36. His passing was far too early and he will be missed.
Sam had a profound love for movies and it showed in his collection and his devotion to keeping this website alive. If you've met Sam in person or through this site you would have met a wonderful human. Sam has been a good friend to a lot of us.
As it stands, we will be keeping DVDcompare going, since this is what Sam would have wanted. For the time being, operations as usual. But do expect certain changes to occur in the near future.
Rest in peace Sam, you will be missed dearly.

I believe he’s also the guy that bought Aficionado when it was going to be shut down.
He was an important player in the hobby.

Also a site I use multiple times a week. That reminds me of another past resource dvdpricesearch, are they just a ghost site now? It is never the right price when I try one of their links anymore.

DVDcompare is invaluable. I love its old-school design that delivers its data without a mess of graphics and ads weighing down each page.
I hope Filmaficianado hangs around. It looked MIA last year, only to be saved by Mr. Scott when he took responsibility for it. Then earlier this year Filmaf's cookies had an issue, basically making the site inoperable. Thankfully, some kind soul volunteered and fixed its computer/web issues.

Export your collection now. They've announced on Facebook that Filmaf's servers are being shut down on July 30. You will lose all data if you don't export it before that date.

It’s coming back though, right? I thought they were just moving to a new server?

RIP. So young
As others have mentioned, I used this tool countless times when I first started collecting and still use it multiple times a week.
