DVD's with no region code

Hello, I have a DVD that I want to sell on ebay. On this particular DVD I noticed there is NO region code at all, not even a 0. I did a quick search on Google and I am surprised not to find this one asked before. What does it mean when a DVD has no region code at all? Would this be considered a region-free DVD? Or would this just be considered the same region code as all of my other DVD's? (which in this case, would be region 1, as I am from Canada). Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Region 0 means it plays on all regions. How are you coming to the conclusion that there is no region code, not even 0?

There is no region 0; if a DVD isn't coded then software will display its regions as 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8.

Yeah, technically a disc can be one region, only certain regions, or all regions, but not "no region". The disc basically contains a whitelist of what region players are allowed to play it. If a disc didn't list any regions, it wouldn't play anywhere.

"Region 0" became a shorthand label on some packaging to mean "ALL," but it has no bearing on how the disc is coded.

I assume you mean there's no region code listed on the packaging? Can you tell us the title?

Is it cam-recorded? Most region-free DVDs are usually cam-recorded and/or imported.

Re: DVD's with no region code

Some discs are either mutlipe-regions (like 2+4) or "all", even though the outer packaging might only display a single region (like "2").

If the disc is a legitimate one (i.e. not a bootleg), I'm surprised there's no mention of a region code at all on the package. I'm sure it's possible, but not likely, unless it's a 'dollar store' or public domain title from low budget companied (often, their discs are in slimline packaging).
