If anyone is interested... Train to Busan on blu-ray is currently $9.99 at Best Buy. Haven't seen it yet but went ahead and got it after a friend's glowing review.

And I'll add my thanks to the sponsors for their continued support (and incredible generosity)!

I'm so excited for tomorrow, that I woke up today thinking it was the 30th, and that the Challenge started tonight. I'm doing a little supernatural programming/ horror today to get primed for tomorrow.

I usually start out writing a few sentences of commentary after each movie, only to peter out around the midpoint of the challenge. So I've decided to replace commentary with survival speculation! For every movie, I'll analyze whether or not I would survive said movie. I'm very excited about this!

This sounds like an awesome idea! Excited to see how this will look!

After last year's challenge a suggestion was brought up [in the suggestions thread] to keep the discussion thread as one single thread as opposed to starting a new one roughly every 800 posts. If you weren't aware, this was originally done back in the day by moderator request. We just kept it going as a tradition. Exiting stuff.

One thread or a new one every 800 posts? Need more feedback, and there's no need to vote if you already have.

And just for the record, I will be continuing the reposting of post 1 (but not post 2 w/ the optional tables) every 800 posts regardless of the turnout. The only difference is, if the thread is kept as one, it'll just be contained within the single thread. Gotta think of the newbies.

My vote would be to do just one thread. For me personally, it just makes it easier to keep track of everything.

So excited for the challenge to begin! Still need to decide what will be title number 1...

I decided to check all the links on the first two posts, since we seem to have developed a case of link rot. I used the w3c Link Checker. Wasn't able to check any imdb links because of their robots.txt, but those are probable fine.

Prize packs look awesome! Thanks for sponsoring this and other challenges, Hamilton Books and Golden Wheels!

I won a pack last year and will be working my way through it this year. I'm going to abstain from entering this year--if I'm that lucky, I should try the Power Ball instead. ;)

Thanks to the other sponsors as well!

Always at least one that dies right before we start. I'll replace it with this link from the same site, which seems to be working:

Enough with the hyperlink roulette, challenge curse! :gah:

The dead links in post #1 aren't suprising because I just didn't have the time to update everything. With post #2, several links were updated on the checklist last night. That is unexpected. I'll go back over them tonight and see what I can do.

I'm finishing off Penny Dreadful today in anticipation of the challenge. It's not my favorite show. In fact, it's very tedious and slow-paced at times and I doubt I'll ever watch it again. However, all these years and everyone was always praising Eva Green for other works and I never quite got it. That is, until I watched this show. She's mesmerizing on this show. I get it now.

7:22 tomorrow is dusk for this guy. I'm excited to start on a weekend for once instead of in the middle of the week during the first week of the term.

Biggest disappointment so far is the Toxic Avenger blu-ray set I bought. I didn't find out until after I got it that 2 and 3 are the R rated versions. The first might be too but I'm ditching the set either way and going to hold onto my Tox Box dvd set instead, since that's about the only release Troma put out of their flagship character that isn't botched, one way or another (although I think I remember the subtitles being screwed up on at least one, where you start seeing the time stamps because they didn't close the tag).

Probably won't make all the theme nights because I'm going on vacation at the end of August.

Deep Discount is having a buy one get one free sale on Kino titles; such as subset picks Yongary and Highway to Hell which can be had for $20.99 together if anyone 'needs' to pick them up.

After replenishing my coffee supply thanks to a National Coffee Day promotion, I finished off the last episode of the past 10 episodes of The Walking Dead I was behind on. I honestly don't get the complaints about season 7 being "too graphic", but whatever.

And before everything kicks off, I plan on squeezing in this doc that's been unopened for far too long before catching the Fright Night Eureka Blu:

It all works out. While ours starts at 7:12 here it will also end at 6:57am on Nov. 1st. I'd bet your end time will be around 7:40am so you'll have more time on the last day than those of us who start earlier.

That brings up a change that would put everyone on the same footing. Just pick a fixed start time on the 30th and a fixed end time on the 1st. I suggest 7pm local time to start and 7am local to finish. Those times are reasonably close to dusk/dawn and that way you're not wondering just when dusk is locally and don't have to stay up all night, or get up extra early, on the 1st just to get that last bit of time worked in.

I've been going through my movies in my head, thinking of what I have that is eligible for tomorrow's theme. I own four eligible movies, and know of at least three more movies available on Roku. So I have seven different movies I could choose from.

I admire your attention to detail, and would support this change, but I don't think many pay that close attention to exactness. "It's getting dark = go", and "I see the sun = stop" are probably what most people do, even if that isn't exactly dusk and dawn technically.

Kick off? You're 24 hours behind DaveyJoe! The Challenge has already started on over half the planet! The kick off coincidentally involves a look at time, Cronos.

Again everyone, we are live on over half the planet! Woo hoo!
