If a category is listed as "Optional", it does not need to be filled to "complete" the checklist. There are 10 free spots you may apply to non-Optional categories. As with other checklists, titles can count for multiple categories. Some of these categories are so obscure we're giving 10 free spots of your choosing to fill in the list. The following lists are Automatic Safe lists. They are not definitive and there might be exceptions therein, especially concerning Distributors. Generally, the presence of those on the lists in an actual creative capacity (that is, more than just a cameo or bit part. For instance, Bruce Campbell appearing in Spider-Man does not make Spider-Man safe) is enough to make a film safe. Got more? Post them and I'll update the list. Obviously, films not including these participants are safe, too. Update: I added several new names to the actors list. Some of these actors appeared in actual big budget Hollywood fare, but most of their career was in B-Movies, then obviously discard the Big Hollywood movies and just watch the B's (For example, William Shatner. Ignore Star Trek movies but anything else is fair game. Or Patrick Swazye. Ghost is probably not right, but most of his other films were B-Movies).

8th Annual Drive-in/Exploitation Challenge April 1-April 30, 2017

Re: 8th Annual Drive-in/Exploitation Challenge April 1-April 30, 2017
I've got a buddy who's been livestreaming some worthy stuff on on his IG account lately (Namely multiple hours of the Trailer Trauma compilations and The Garbage Pail Kids Movie) While I easily could have been including all this stuff in my list, I've passed on doing so. Perhaps it's the karma of David Lynch who might torment me for watching films on my phone

I planned to watch Off Beat Cinema for the Challenge last night, but it was just my luck that the one episode that isn't eligible for this Challenge was aired during the month that that show is perfect for. It was the one episode that instead of airing a movie, the program was devoted to the Max Fleischer Superman cartoons. Made sense, since the host segments were done from a local comic book convention, Fan Expo, in Toronto.

Tom Conway in Confidence Girl seems very, very familiar... he was the Falcon, a Bulldog Drummond and a Saint, but I can't be sure I've seen any of those. So I have to conclude I've no idea where I've seen him, and it's bothering me a little... anyway, he's great. And the plot is very interesting; they spend as much time explaining in great detail how the cons are pulled as showing them. Great fun.
Also, the closing narration says itvs set April 10-20, 1950. Good timing!

I've been hearing a lot of buzz about The Void on VOD. I'm about to check it out. Since the (Early) Carpenter & Fulci-references keep on being mentioned, I'm assuming this could fit the challenge. If not, that'll be my first wildcard.

I'm watching Feud Bette and Joan, and realize this counts. It's not only about the making of Whatever Happened to Baby Jane, but this week's episode features Homicidal and has a cameo of John Waters playing William Castle!

Wow. I neglected El Rey Network at the start of this challenge (Thinking they were just gonna show the same stuff they've been showing for years) but a whole crap load of NEW ShawBros films are coming up!
Thundering Sword
The Master Strikes Back
Ambitious Kung Fu Girl
2 Champions of Shaolin
Kid From Kwangtung
Magnificent Wanderers
Gang Master
Duel of the Century
Clans of Intrigue
Twin Swords
Devil's Mirror
Long Road to Gallantry
The Eunuch
Invincible Shaolin
The Fantastic Magic Baby
And that's not even the lineup for the whole month! Still though, while I'll be recording all these, I'll be saving most for another time. I'm more on a kick for those chop-socky "Drunken-Tiger-Fist-Monkey" movies over the classy, serious wuxia/chivalry films. At least my DVR will finally get a workout this month!

The Kid with the Golden Arm is great. The choreography is fantastic, but it's the dubbing that's hilarious - [Scouse]"His Koung-foo's useles'. He caernt haarm ous."[/Scouse]

Ah, the movie that introduced me into the wonderful world of Erwin C. Dietrich! I saw one of his producer-projects last night (Love Letters/Nun) but I've got to check out a directed film by him sometime this week. I think I first saw Caged Women in either the 7th or 8th challenge and his work has been mandatory for these challenges since then.
To tell the truth, I barely even noticed who directed Caged Women, and the next two movies I watched were also directed by him. I recognized Brigitte Lahaie (who I last saw during last year's challenge in Nathalie: Escape from Hell), so I decided to make it a Brigitte Lahaie double feature and watch the first "Six Swedish Girls" movie. Turned out the other two women in the cell with her in Caged Women were in that one also. Then I decided to make it a triple feature and watch the first "Six Swedish Girls" sequel (which also had those three in it, the other three, less important, Swedish girls had been recast).

I've been using B Movie TV for quite a few of my movies lately. The other night, I saw my first Sho Kosugi movie of the Challenge, and as a double treat, Van Damme was also in it, Black Eagle. Yesterday I found out I missed the chance to see the original Creature, from 1985, and it would have been a first time view too. I didn't even know Klaus Kinski was in it. I just looked up Klaus Kinski, thinking it was another movie, and I found a list of his movies.

Wonder Women made very little sense, but was enjoyable for the oddities and bad acting. Not liking RiffTrax quite as much as MST3K, but they definitely added a small something to the amusement.

I watched an old favorite last night, which also happened to have Sho Kosugi in it, though he didn't have top billing in this movie, Enter The Ninja, which I own on Amazon Instant Video. Franco Nero got the top billing in that particular movie, as a ninja who was helping an old friend in the Philippines. Sho played a rival ninja from the same school, who was hired by the villain in the movie. I remember reading somewhere that he actually did have ninja training in real life too. I was just browsing Amazon for something to watch, and that particular movie jumped out at me.

I watched JAIL BAIT (1954) on Amazon Prime. I believe it was Ed Wood's only 1950s film I hadn't yet seen. Despite the title, it's not about underage girls but is instead about the protagonist's gun, which his hapless sister describes as "jail bait," i.e. something liable to get him sent to jail.
It's gotta be Wood's worst movie, without any of the unintentional laughs or even the occasional dramatic flair that marked his other films. There are two veteran actors in it, Lyle Talbot, who'd appear in other Ed Wood movies, and Herbert Rawlinson, a British actor with a long film career dating back to 1911(!) who was dying of cancer when he made this and reportedly died right after finishing his last scene for this film. Luckily, Wood was never one for retakes. The other actors are all amateurs and Wood regulars, with one exception. This was the first featured role for future Hercules Steve Reeves. He wears an ill-fitting suit (much too big for him). Wood contrives to get him to take his shirt off in one scene, where he has to shave--in the office!

A personal mystery that's over 30 years old is now solved!
I must've been about 4 years old while browsing the TV guide when I saw ^that alien guy in an ad for the movie he's in (I obviously couldn't read back then. Otherwise I would've known what the title was) And wouldn't you know? Some random Netflix rental I've done for this challenge ends up providing the title for that sci-fi movie that I've always wanted to identify (The Day Time Ended) A big thanks to all who are involved with these challenges for providing moments like this---Because it's happened on more than one occasion.
