Bootlet DVDs Or Not ???
I recently purchased a set of “Downton Abbey – Season 6” DVDs from a well known brick and mortar store’s web site. After placing the order I received an email indicating the set was actually being shipped by another vendor I never heard of. Because I was not familiar with the vendor, I examined the DVDs when the arrived and found the content to be lightly less than 4.7 GB per DVD and no encryption, i.e., not copy protected. In today’s world I would have expected the content to be on a double layer disk and be encrypted if it was a legal set. Does anyone have a copy of “Downton Abbey – Season 6” they purchased direct from PBS or other reputable source they can examine to determine if the DVDs are copy protected etc. I do not want to make waves if it is a legitimate set.
Thanks

Sounds dodgy af.
TV set, no encryption, and SS-SL discs are all red flags.

Just name the well known brick and mortar store. I'll assume it's either Best Buy or Target, both stores that practice a lot of drop-shipping for rarer media items. There are only a handful of different drop-shippers left, they service pretty much all the larger brick and mortar stores' web sales. They usually aren't in the business of shipping bootlegs, but it's possible a bootleg might have slipped in if something went wrong.
