Re: Last DVD you watched?

Last night, my wife and I watched Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, for the first time in ages. I was surprised at how well it's held up over the years. I remembered several of the set piece gags, but the pace was so fast that it didn't feel like it was just a continuous string of jokes.

The Best of Rocko's Modern Life vol. 3 - dissappointing, the episodes they chose didn't go together well.

Re: Last DVD you watched?

Just watched Hollywoodland, the fictionalized account of the investigation into George Reeves's death. I felt it went on a bit too long, given that the film doesn't actually answer any of the questions that have remained all these years. Still, I think Affleck turned in a decent performance as the actor whose ambitions exceeded his resume.

The Devil & Daniel Webster - a truly wonderful film that I eagerly await watching again. Criterion rarely disappoints me.

Re: Last DVD you watched?

Watchmen (Ultimate cut)... an interesting experience to see a movie that in most ways adheres very closely to the graphic novel, yet makes an overwhelmingly persuasive case against doing so.

Just watched the documentary, Anne Frank Remembered. Very well done, and quite moving.

Re: Last DVD you watched?

The Big Hit. It's not a great (or even good) movie by any means, but I've always enjoyed it.

Wonderland. Awesome movie. One of Val Kilmer's best performances, IMO.
