The new n. Gorgeous! One of my all-time favorite horror movies. The documentary about the true story was interesting too.

Re: Last DVD you watched?

One of my all-time favorite horror movies. It's very nice on BR though the "vaseline on the lens" effect throughout the movie is sort of irritating. The special features were just meh. 3 interviews with very old people who were involved, one of whom, the chauffeur, rambled on nearly incoherently. I would have preferred to see a short doc about the movie with some film critics or more BTS footage or something. Overall quite a good BR though.

I'd never seen this before. HUGELY IMPRESSED. It reminded me of a Hitchcock film but I loved the bright candy colors and the over the top gorgeous women and stage dressing. The BR presentation was amazing. Highly recommend!

Blood and BlacK Lace made me want to watch a lot more giallos. Most of them I haven't seen. So I found some lists on the web of recommended giallos. I loved this one. The mystery is set in a rural village, which I guess is unusual for giallos, which usually take place in cities. I loved the rural setting and the backwards community which enacts revenge in this film. The mystery revolves around a child killer. There's a lot of misogyny in the film, but it's more showing the villager's misogyny than the filmmakers. At least that's my read. There's an attacked in a cemetery which is super powerful and the ending scene where the killer buys it is just crazy. My husband and I were laughing but at the same times it's just super gross. Recommended!

My husband and I watched all 3 films in the trilogy this week. I loved the first film. Great 70's horror that is sort of cheesy now but I happen to love that. They kept the baby hidden through most of it and it works. Terrific performances and it feels like a bigger budget film that it it.
It Lives Again (#2) was pretty bad. The lead actors are much weaker and the plot is basically a repeat. I'd give it a 4/10.
It's Alive 3 was better than #2 but not as good as #1. The best thing about it was Michael Moriarty and Karen Black. But they show the "grown babies" much more and the effects are so bad. Plot was just OK.

Overall, worth a watch. I'll be selling my set since I don't feel like I'll watch it again.

:thmbsdwn: :thmbsdwn: Painfully low-budget, with too much dialogue and very little action. Its lone saving grace is that it was short.

Wheels Of Terror aka The Misfits Brigade - a somewhat disjointed movie about the nazis using criminals for missions for their military. David Carradine plays a good Bad guy and Olivier reed has a real short part. its worth a view 3/5

Mandela The Long Walk To Freedom - I'm a big fan of biographical movies and I admit I didnt know much about Mandela at all. Idris Elba was great playing him and it was really well made. 5/5

The Greatest Showman - I've always been a big fan of PT Barnum and his life, have several books on him and documentarys. While its a good movie full of fun songs and visuals. It didnt depict how he really was, he was supposed to be a mean and conniving man would do anything for a buck. They kinda touch on it but nothing like he was supossed to be. but I didnt enjoy it 3/5

The Death of Stalin. Probably the most disappointing movie I've watch in the past couple of years. I loved In The Loop, and I love the first four seasons of Veep (once Iannucci left and David Mandel took over, it got increasingly weak; I really hated the last season and don't hold up much hope for the final season). I barely laughed at all while watching this, and yet I'm a giant Steve Buscemi fan. Don't understand why this has attained such positive reviews.

Red Riding 1974. Pretty solid beginning to the trilogy, about a series of child murders in Britain in the '70s. Andrew Garfield is quite good in this, as is Sean Bean. Very atmospheric...Nevertheless, the follow-ups were much better...

Red Riding 1980. Paddy Considine is great in this, which is probably the best of the trilogy. This one delves into the Yorkshire Ripper, who murdered over a dozen women in the '70s and '80s. Really great, but tragic story...The ending is a killer...

Red Riding 1983. Great ending to the series. I can't remember the name of the main actor (who plays a "solicitor", which I think is some sort of lawyer in British-parlance")...Still a tragic ending but it's well worth seeing...

Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 4: Initiation. Pretty awful horror movie starring Clint Howard. Just beyond bad. I like the first three parts of the series, but this was just brutal, and it barely has anything to do with Christmas. And the DVD image looks horrible...

Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 5: The Toy Maker. Wow, Mickey Rooney is one of the stars in this one, despite being one of the most vocal critics of the first movie, claiming it sent a horrible message to kids (even though the movie was obviously rated-R and not intended for kids). His issue was that the original commercials had images of an axe-wielding Santa Claus, and he assumed that would corrupt children. Anyway, there's nothing good about this movie, and the image is just as bad as the previous movie.

It's Alive 2: It Lives Again. Not a very strong movie. While I'm not even really a fan of the first movie, this one is probably on par with that. Both movies are "okay", I guess, but nothing special. I'll watch the third one eventually...But I'm not in the mood right now...I did like Frederic Forrest in this, for what its worth...
