I haven't finished it yet, but I just started watcing Dragonslayer, one of the best fantasy movies of the 80s, if not of all time. I don't remembe too much about it, as it's been probably 20 years since I've seen the movie, but I do remember the dragon from the ending of the movie. Has anyone here seen the movie ? Did you like it ?

Watched Melvin and Howard last night. Not bad, but I wish there had been a little more focus on Howard and a little less on Melvin.

What did you think of it? I thought it tried entirely too hard to be a sexual morality tale instead of being an honest exploration of the dynamics involved. That said, I enjoyed the performances.

I thought the fight scenes were beautifully choreographed. That's really the only kind thing I can say about what should have been a great film. It seemed as though 20 minutes would pass in "real time," and then entire months would be summarized in a forty second montage.

As for me, I finally watched The Aviator (2004) yesterday. DiCaprio was great, and I loved that the OCD emerged gradually rather than appeared abruptly. My only qualm was with John Logan's scripted language; I thought the film ought to have been called The Goddamn Aviator.

Tarzan The Ape Man (1932) - the "Terminator" of it's day.

Tarzan and His Mate (1934) - the "Terminator 2" of it's day. Both have wall-to-wall violence (human vs. human, animal vs. animal, human vs. animal, etc.), implied sexuality galore (underwater nude skinny dipping, unreal for '34) and ridiculous amounts of pulp fiction hijinks. I loved them, and Weissmuller and O'Sullivan make for one seriously hot pre-Hays movie couple.

Tarzan Escapes (1936) - the Hays code neuters the king of the jungle's mojo and her queen's sensuality with a silly "Flintstones"-like home and an underwhelming adventure (with too many reycled scenes from the previous two "Tarzan" flicks). Still mildly fun but not as good as the previous two.

Alfred Hitchcock's Sabotage (1936) - tight and tense pre-WWII British thriller. I can't belive the balls Hitch showed with the bomb sequence on the bus (it shocked me; people back in '36 must have gone nuts). Mostly good acting and a short run (76 min.) keep "Sabotage" from outstaying its welcome.

The Foot Fist Way. I enjoyed this one for what it was. A simple, dark comedy, following an increasingly foolish man. It was pretty funny directly as a result of Danny McBride.

After Hours. A true Scorsese masterpiece. Truly a wonderful, thrilling mad-house ride into an almost inescapable madness of the night.

Rear Window. This has always been one of my favorite Hitchcock films. It's almost tied with North by Northwest for my top pick.

Gone. Watched it for Yvonne Strahovski. Turns out she was in it for 7 and a half seconds. Movie itself was a pretty good thriller.
