Finally finished season 7 of the Shield last night.
Great show, I'll really miss it. |

Star Trek (2009) - although not the same effect on a 27" screen as a theater, I still loved it as much as I did in the theater (lens flare issues aside).
Gantz - Season 1 - I have my problems with the series; annoying characters and long overly drawn out scenes (like I could take out the trash, do the dishes and tuck the kids into bed, return and still not my place), but overall what a wicked premise and fascinating commentary. A very bitter-sweet series. |

Reaper: Season One - Terrific series. The relationship between the 3 friends is what does it for me. Just pitch-perfect.

Terminator Salvation: The Machinma Series
The graphics are absolutely atrocious, but the story was surprisingly good. I wish I had seen this before I saw the movie because it makes you appreciate Blair Williams much more. Graphics notwithstanding, if you are a Terminator fan you should pick this up as it lays a good foundation for stuff that happens in the movie. The voice acting is pretty good and the story is actually engaging. Laz Howard was a particularly interesting character and we get to see a lot more depth to Blair than we ever did in the movie. |

Re: Last DVD you watched?
John Woo's Hard Boiled (1992) on Criterion DVD. Picture looks like crap (a washed-out Laserdisc print being the original source) but WOW, what an amazing piece of Hong Kong action filmmaking. Chow Yun-Fat, Tony Leung and an army of game stuntmen put most Hollywood action movies of the past 15 years to shame, culminating in a hospital siege so freaking intense it makes the live action "G.I. Joe" movie look amateurish.
Sam Fuller's Eclipse Box Set: I Shot Jesse James (1949), The Baron of Arizona (1950) and The Steel Helmet (1951). Excellent harbingers of the talent and skill of one of America's most underrated filmmakers. Vincent Price gives a standout performance in "Baron of Arizona" and Gene Evans' is just intense as Sgt. Zack in "The Steel Helmet." A worthy Criterion Box Set. |

Yeah, Jeff leaving was the end of the show for me. I just couldn't get into Oliver.
Jane was less "Crazy Jane", Sally got more crazy and so forth. Season 4 is obviously the worst season, with Steve and Patrick just barely holding things together. The show got a lot more serious with the final season too which made me miss all the random jokes in Seasons 1-3 (partial Season 3) even more. |
