Counterfeit DVD IFPI code ?

I have two copies of a movie. One I believe is legit the other I think counterfeit. The one I feel is genuine has an IFPI code with L801. The other has a code stamped closer to the center hole that has a stylized IFPI logo followed by BD008. Someone suggested that one of the DVDs was a second production run. But lack of a proper ifpi code (not starting with L) no region set and no CSS encryption lead me to believe it is a counterfeit. Any ideas what else I could look for to verify? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a fake. Check and see if it is single layer - put into your computer and go to my computer and see how many gb the disc is. If it is 4.19 or 4 something then it is likely fake for sure.

Re: Counterfeit DVD IFPI code ?

up to 4.3 Gb (single layer ) is not a definitive indicator as many releases were released on single layer

Highly Suspicious indicators

First put suspicious Dvd in computer Look at Video_ts and Audio_ts folder dates go inside Video_TS folder look at the file dates; dates that seem to be TOO RECENT would highly indicate a counterfeit

No Css (although I have seen some mill creek and echo bridge discs that tend to disagree)

One Release being a double layer 5-8 Gb and the other being a single layer around 4 gb the size should be same on a second production run but could be different on a re-release

Poor Printing or misspelled words

Having a bluish/purplish bottom this would definitely indicate a burned disc some companies sell (licensed) make on demand disc though (burned DVD-R)

I've seen some discs from major studios without it as well. Not major titles but it does happen.
