Just finished His Name Was Jason. Not a bad doc, and was interested to see they talked a little bit about the non movie F13 stuff like Universal Studios attractions. Almost makes me want to see the remake, if anyone can tell me if it is any good?

Nope. Earlier. I was maybe 10 or 11 or maybe even younger when I saw this so it had to be late 60s or early 70s. I want to say it was made in the late 50s and in color.

I'm having the worst luck this challenge! I'm generally known for not liking many films as it is, but I've normally found a few noteworthy films this far into the challenge. Excluding 2 rewatches, I've given out one 8/10, one 2/10 and the rest between 4-6. It's not even really BAD stuff, it's just BORING stuff, which is even worse.

Maybe you guys can help me remember a hidden gem/guilty pleasure. I remember watching a B horror late one night on... USA I think. This had to have been made in the late 80s, early 90s, and it was possibly a sequel, I can't say for sure. All I can remember is that it was set during a high school prom/homecoming and had a supernatural element, it was not a slasher but some type of demonic presence featuring some gruesome deaths. The villain was female. At the end of the movie the lead escapes with his girlfriend and they are driving away to safety, but they stop somewhere for some reason, when the guy leaves the car the evil female villain bursts through the car(?) to kill the romantic lead girl in a twist ending. Does any of that ring a bell?

If that's the case, I'm definitely counting it feature length. I've watched two films that were shorter than that this challenge.

I have to throw a shout-out to a great Australian torture porn I watched last night. I had heard of it awhile back but just got around to watching it. The Loved Ones (2009) is a nice little film with some great performances, especially from its lead actress. The twist for this movie, that makes it different from other movies of its ilk, is who is doing the torturing. Highly recommended!

I've always really liked The Loved Ones despite the hard turn it took. It got some pretty strong praise last year during the challenge.... or maybe the year before. I've been thinking about importing the disk from the UK.

I loved The Loved Ones as well. Always nice to find Aussie movies that don't suck balls

Came across a random reoccurring theme; dad's who have remarried a younger woman - and the children are forced to hear them having sex.

Posted a review video for CONTAMINATION .7 (1993). It's terrible, make no mistake, but it's also strangely charming.

Lords of Salem isn't so bad, sometimes too forced it's surreal abstract vibe is ultimately refreshing and it handles things in an unconventional way - not top tier but amusing enough...

...so I thought I'd give the Rob Zombie Halloween remakes a whirl but if it isn't hard to sit through the first 20 minutes of it with all the hammy swearing and over the top manufactured attempts at making everyone seem depraved. I've committed myself through the sequel thought, yikes.

Wow. I vote this be a theme day next year - what an insane cliche.

Okay, I was watching Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan and this New York cop sounds suspiciously Canadian...

I believe a lot of it was filmed in British Columbia!

I watched Hatchet III last night....I liked it. Now, I could probably watch Danielle Harris watching paint dry and find it pretty decent, but I do find it a fun franchise.

Speaking of goofs, I watched Class of Nuke 'Em High and even though they went to obvious lengths to label locations as "Tromaville" they missed the "Jersey City" ambulance on its way to Tromaville Medical Center.

That might explain it. I've seen the movie several times, but this was the first time I noticed how little of it was actually filmed in New York City. When that cop was getting killed I half expected him to call Jason a hoser.

Looking at my IMDB ratings, I gave his Halloweens a 2/10 then a 4/10, but I think I was feeling generous. I think I liked LoS much better.

Speaking of things for next year, and I know this is the wrong thread, but how about Bats, Cats, and Rats for a theme?

And the checklist is a little unbalanced in that things like actors is watch 10 out of 40, or other easily attainable ratios; but then the main subgenre/type section is a much more difficult watch 30 out of 40. Perhaps add some things back into that section like animated and remake to make it a bit less 'watch all of this'?

Speaking of the expanded checklist, it looks like the link for the BFI's 100 European Horror Films list is down.
