Criterion 007 ld commentaries available
Found this up on The Digital Bits- the banned commentaries on the James Bond Criterion Laserdiscs are available for download.

Don't know how long they'll be there so check it out quickly.

Everyone and their mother seems to be downloading them. I can't even get the site to load.
If I can get them before they're taken down, I'll host them on my site.

Incredible. Great commentaries. Better than the ones on the DVD set.
I wish we could here more of these lost tracks. I always wanted to hear the one for Bad Day at Black Rock.
Great fine. Thanks for sharing.

What is it about these commentaries that make them so controversial? Who are the commentaries by?

Just from memory their biggest sin is that they tell the truth, about shenanigans and politics on the set and behind the scenes and that made the producers mad. I've never actually heard them, but this topic pops up on DVD boards every so often for years now. I'm kinda surprised you weren't aware.

I've always heard that they were pulled by Broccoli because the tracks were made without his knowledge. He allegedly got mad about some of the commentators calling Ian Flemming a drunk. Also one of the moderators wrote an unauthorized book about the Bond movies, and was involved in a lawsuit with EON. But it doesn't change the fact that they are great tracks and should be heard by fans of these films.
I've got an mp3 of the Bad Day at Black Rock track. It's good in a scholarly way. I have been trying to find a copy of the The Fisher King track and keep hitting dead ends.

May I ask where you found the Bad Day commentary? It's supposed to be a master class in directing.
