Re: Your Most Valuable DVD

Sold a couple sealed copies of the Criterion versions of Hard Boiled and The Killer, also the original release of Fargo on DVD back in the day. Nowadays, I hold no illusions that anything in my collection is worth much. Though I do have several of the Anchor Bay limited edition multi disc sets like Supergirl, Army of Darkness, and Manhunter.

Re: Your Most Valuable DVD

Oh, I have "The Greatest American Hero (Complete Series in Deluxe Collector's Tin with instruction booklet and cape)" too - what's it worth nowadays? I paid $79.44 including shipping back in 2006. I see that some Amazon Marketplace sellers have it offered at $980 for a new one and as low as $55 for a used copy. Used but "Like New" is $100. Would you consider selling it for that? I would for $980, but not for $100.

Re: Your Most Valuable DVD

I wouldn't sell mine since I'm a huge fan of the series. Bought my set on ebay for about $60.00 before it went OOP. I've seen new unopened sets listed for as high as $500.00 recently, however I don't know if they've actually sold for that amount. I opened mine upon arrival just to check that the batteries (included within the instruction book) didn't leak out. Apparently, this was a common problem with certain sets that remained unopened for a period of time.

Probably a 3-way tie amongst Grand Tour: Disaster in Time, The Odyssey, and Nemesis (1993, Olivier Gruner) all 3 of which are routinely selling for $50 and up.

Re: Your Most Valuable DVD

What's a way to determine this? Just go to Ebay and see how much everything is going for?

Ebay and Amazon, that's where I usually compare prices when I'm looking for something.

At a glance, probably The Valerio Zurlini Box Set.

And The Cook, The Thief, His Wife And Her Lover.

Nothing too pricey.

Checking Amazon's Deal of the Week, I noticed that while the current deal Scooby-Doo: Where Are You? set is $28, the original release seems to be listed at $400... one wonders if anyone is buying the original!

I also have
Breaking Bad Barrel
Dark Shadows Limited Ed. (I'd sell this if I would just buy the Deluxe, but I'm afraid I'll sell this and never get around to buying the Deluxe).
Salem's Lot
Dr. Syn
Supergirl Anchor Bay - 80
Quatermass and the Pit Hammer - 134
Greatest American Hero tin (2 copies, 1 sealed) - one of my favorite series of all time (But I don't know where you all are getting 900 for this. It's usually between 200-300 and I've seen sealed copies go as low as $100 on eBay)
Friends - The One with All Ten Seasons (Limited Edition) (2005) (2 copies, 1 sealed) - I really should sell that sealed copy.
Batman the Animated series the complete series
I think I also have this version of Of Mice and Men. If I could find it I'd sell it in a flash. http://www.amazon.com/Mice-Men-Rober...f+mice+and+men

There's probably a ton more. Sometimes I browse Amazon and am astounded that something goes OOP and the price jumps through the roof.

I have blind bought so much over the years and just never opened them. If I see a movie gets to $50 or so, I usually sell it (with rare exceptions - I'll probably never sell Quatermass, Supergirl, Batman TAS or GAH). Stuff get's reprinted all the time and most movies I just buy to watch -- and a blind buy is not worth 50 bucks to me. There are a few I collect though and those don't get sold.

There's a lot of that Anchor Bay stuff that is worth some bucks. I remember K-Mart had a clearance on those and I picked up 1 of almost every title. I sold Condorman for $150, just before Disney rereleased it. It's still worth almost 90 bucks.

Re: Your Most Valuable DVD

A DVD copy of Exit to Eden sold for $5 recently but most seemed to be priced starting around $35 now. If you click on Sold Listings, after you do a search, you can see what something has sold for in the last few weeks.

Which one would get me the most money if I sold it? No idea.

Which one would I grab if there were a fire? Easy:

Sorry, cats! The DVD set doesn't puke all over the carpet.

Re: Your Most Valuable DVD

In case anyone on here is interested, there is a brand new and sealed Greatest American Hero Deluxe Collector's Tin DVD set available on ebay right now for a 'buy it now' price of $156.00 (including shipping). The seller has over 3,800 transactions on ebay with a 100% feedback rating.

One of these days I'd like to find the Widescreen version (I have the Full Screen version that came in a jewel case) but I'll never pay more than $20 for it.

Is their name FudgePiles?

Off the top of my head would be the BB exclusive Nick Fury Agent of SHIELD and Are You Afraid of the Dark Sn 1.

I suspect the prices will continue to fall as the series is coming out on Blu-ray...in Japan.

Rare and in-demand DVDs tend to collapse in price once a better alternative becomes available or goes back into print.

Thanks for the heads up regarding the Japan GAH blu-ray releases. I'm such a huge fan of the series yet I had no idea this was in the works. Just checked Amazon.jp and it lists the entire series as being released in four separate volumes with the final volume released in August. Hope we'll see a Region 1 blu-ray release someday...
