The Complete Metropolis Question

My apologies if there is another thread discussing this, but I tried search and none of the posts that came up had this info that I saw.

I have two questions, actually. One is to confirm that the 1 disc BR has the exact same extras as the 2 disc DVD? (Both have the same name, "The Complete Metropolis.")

The second is for those who have the BR: Is it worth getting the Blu over the DVD? I'm focusing on the image quality here. I know it was remastered but with the new found footage added in, does it really make that much difference seeing it in HD? I know that the found footage was noticeably different in quality when I saw it, but that was about 2 years ago when I rented it in DVD so my memory of it has faded.

Thanks!

Yes the DVD and Blu-ray of the "Complete Metropolis" have the same extras. I'm sure the blu-ray is worth it, especially for the audio. Full orchestra silent film score in lossless 5.1 is a huge upgrade if you are capable of playing lossless audio.

Thanks! I saw a couple places saying that the features were the same, but I've learned not to trust the sellers who often copy and paste no matter if it's accurate or not. I unfortunately do not have access to a good sound system, so, not really a factor at the moment.

Re: The Complete Metropolis Question

The video comparison is about the same as shown, as the earlier restored version is essentially identical just without the 16mm inserted footage. If you can do Blu, go with that. It is what was projected in the theaters. Can't get much better than that.

Re: The Complete Metropolis Question

Just looked at that and it made me wonder, is there any reason to own the 2002 restoration from Kino? I would think the Moroder plus the 2010 version would cover it all, right?

Re: The Complete Metropolis Question

The 2002 disc has different extras, a commentary (which is boring), a documentary (good, but the new one is better) and a different version of the film.

Thanks, sounds like I can skip it.
