DVDs won't play on Blu-Ray machines
Not sure where I got it but I had a factory-sealed region 1 DVD that I sold on Amazon and buyer claims it won't play on either of his two Blu-Ray machines.
He returned it to me and I gave him full refund (price and shipping) and sure enough, it won't play on my Blu-Ray system but will on my regular player.
I thought most any region 1 DVD would also play on Blu-Ray machines.
It's a WB label dual layer format. So I guess I'm stuck with it.

This is weird. I've never had a dvd not play on my blu-ray player before. I had a blu-ray that wouldn't play properly, but all I had to do was update the firmware. What's the company that put the dvd out?

I've had issues with older WB (and other studio) DVDs in Blu-ray players where the menus won't show when you load them. However, if you hit ENTER on your remote, the movie or episodes would play. Can't remember all of them, but I know season 1 of Babylon 5 was like this. I want to say it was on a Samsung player (that I've long replaced).

The Blu-ray player that I am currently using refuses to play standard DVDs. It did when I first got it, but now it doesn't. I have no idea what caused it, nor can I find any solution.

Perhaps the red laser went bad. They have three different laser assemblies, infrared for CDs, red for DVDs and Blue for Blu-ray.

That sounds accurate. I purchased a replacement plan for it, so I need to just disconnect it and go pick up a new one. One of these days, haha.

I did this with a Sony DVD player once. It took all of 5 minutes and worked perfectly.
It's a long shot, but you won't be out anything.

It seems unlikely that Flicker and his customer would have three Blu-Ray players among them that wouldn't play DVDs. I tried my copy on my Oppo BDP-93 and both movies played. I didn't play them all the way through, though.
None of this proves anything, but I wanted to add an additional data point.

When and where I bought this disc, I purchased it mainly for resell and kept the shrink-wrap intact. Only after it was returned to me from the buyer did I watch both movies on my regular DVD player. I now have to admit both were decent movies although not really what I call "horror."

Re: DVDs won't play on Blu-Ray machines
I have new copies of PSI Factor dvd seasons that certain discs will not play in any blu ray that I own, but they will play in the dvd players and computer drives. The offending discs are slightly thicker than current dvds.
