Just pulled a muscle in the left side of my chest and I immediately thought about all this heart attack stuff and freaked out for awhile.

In my five years of participating in the challenge, this one has produced my best total. Going to finish up with my annual Halloween night double feature of Halloween III: Season of the Witch (the best of the series) and The Blair Witch Project (still gets under my skin like no other film).

Curses! I've moved my shelf of Peanuts DVDs to God-knows-where, so it looks like no Its the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown showing for me this year, possibly the first year of my life without it. Wait, I can't let that happen. It's got to be online somewhere, or to Walmart I go.

I totally disagree with the positive thoughts on Halloween III. I just re-watched it a couple of nights ago and the movie has a bad rep for a reason...the story is fucking retarded. Stonehenge? Really? Robots? Bugs and snakes crawling out of people's heads after they get zapped? And the movie drags on and on and on getting to the ridiculous conclusion. I agree Tom Atkins is great but I just couldn't get past the insipid storyline. The score kicks ass though.
B. Robots. O'Herlihy's character is a toymaker. A Really good one.
C. Bug and snakes? Why not? This is evil magic after all.
and
D. Your use of the term "fucking retarded" is repulsive. The term is derogatory towards people with intellectual handicaps and the people who love and care for them.

Hi all. Didn't fair so well this year but made it half way. Still, even if I only watch one it's nice to keep up this tradition here on DVDtalk.
Happy Halloween all!

Now to figure out what film to end the challenge with. Indecision reigns.

A. Stonehenge. Dan O'Herlihy explains that Stonehenge was the site of human sacrifices and the menhirs have magical powers, hence the inclusion of the stone chips in each mask. The script handwaves his acquisition of a Stonehenge stone "You wouldn't believe how we did it", but that's OK. It makes sense within the story.
B. Robots. O'Herlihy's character is a toymaker. A Really good one.
C. Bug and snakes? Why not? This is evil magic after all.

Awww, I'm sorry SterlingBen. At least it was just a pulled muscle. I wouldn't want you to follow me down the heart attack lane!

October is now in the rear view mirror in the eastern time zone.
Will try to get to a few other things before the sun comes up. Another enjoyable challenge.

Everyone can breathe easy, I found my relocated Peanuts shelf in time to get my yearly Great Pumpkin on.
Unhappy November 1st everyone, the saddest day of the year imo.

Wow. I had virtually ZERO trick-treaters this year. Is the "Child-obesity" law that much enforced now?

Watched the Scanners trilogy, all three were first time viewings.
Do you think the audition process went something like "act like you're getting a really bad migraine, and slowly proceed to uncontrolled seizure"?

I just realized I didn't use any wild cards. So I'm gonna go old school and use one for each of the usual 1890, 1900, 1910 shorts. Love discovering overlooked entries.

Hope everyone had a great halloween! I enjoyed this month of horror watching and probably going to end with ernest scared stupid for the comedy crossover later before dawn, just finished trick r' treat and halloween (78') and now maybe hocus pocus, sleepy hollow, monster house, halloween II, and/or halloween: H20. I'm so indecisive and kinda burnt out but have the free time, still kinda early here, and it's in the final hours so off I go to get more watching in.

A little off topic, but there are some horror examples. The BBC has a cool vehicle identification quiz on their site. I went 61-16.

That's it for me. I wish I could stay up until dawn watching more, but I have to be in at work by around noon. Finished up watching a double-feature of Corman/Poe/Price from the Scream Factory set. The one disk was a rattler and I wanted to be sure I didn't have to return it. It played fine

I just finished my final movie of the challenge, [Rec] 3: Genesis, at number 163. Thank you to Chad for hosting, I enjoyed gorging myself of horror movies and the discussion here!
Now I'm going to try to sleep through the weekend (if not for petty interruptions like work and kids).

I'm off work through to Monday. I really want to watch 'till dawn, but I know I'd be regretting it all weekend. But still...

And thanks for the reminder on the early decades Dick. I went ahead and watched the usual suspects as well. I wish there was an 1880s surviving film that could be classified as horror, but my googling finds only other genres.

I really battled to get through even a few movies last night. I ended up in bed well before 11pm. It bummed me out a bit because I still have some stuff on the DVR that I'd intended to check out. I know it is going to be at least a couple of days before I really feel like diving back into watching anything.
