Pythons! (John Cleese, Graham Chapman, Michael Palin, Terry Jones, Terry Gilliam Eric Idle)
Blackadder-y people! (Rowan Atkinson, Tony Robinson, Hugh Laurie, Tim McInnerny, Stephen Fry, Miranda Richardson, Rik Mayall)
In fact, although the options are limited, watching a Monty Python film/episode might be a reasonable additions... (And it could be expanded outward to include, say, Yellowbeard, Time Bandits, Baron Munchhausen - maybe things starring two or more Pythons..?)
Terry Gilliam could stand alone as a director, too. Or even Jason Reitman, maybe. Oh, Paul Feig!
Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Rashida Jones, Aubrey Plaza, Adam Scott...
Although I personally broadly dislike both of them, both Ricky Gervais and Russell Brand could be added.
(Watching Scream 3 makes me wonder if a "Jay and Silent Bob" film could be an option...?)

Thanks. I'll add "Watch a film with at least two cast members of Monty Python's Flying Circus" and maybe switch out John Cleese with Michael Palin on the "comedic actors" list.
For "Jay and Silent Bob," I'll add "Watch a film starring the director." That'll allow Chaplin, Lewis, and others to count toward a check too.

Here's the checklist. Is anyone even interested in a checklist?

Checklist and themes look good. But one idea, and this could work for most of the Challenges, but how about one theme night to honor all the comedians and comedy creators that have passed away in the last year?

Don't we have that during the Academy Award Challenge? If you have a list, or a link to a list, I can add it to the checklist (or the theme nights if you have a day in mind).

I'll do it like I did the Horror one this year. If I watch something that qualifies I'll check it off but otherwise I'm going to concentrage on my massive unwatched pile. My wife has been accusing me of building a wall of unwatched DVDs.

I'll do the same. I used to try building my collection toward the checklist and/or finding films at the library. However, I have so much unwatched comedies that I really need to watch.

I personally don't usually do checklists myself, but I'm for them as I know a lot of ppl do love them.

If no one has any complaints, I'll go with what I posted and start the list thread later tonight.
Edit: Looking at it again, I'm going to change "Select 4 of the following" to "Select 6 of the following" on the last group since "animated" and "holiday" and "British film" can all be "double-point" checks.
Select 6 of the following:
--- a film starring a stand-up comedian (acting) -
--- a film starring a stand-up comedian (performing his/her stand-up act) -
--- a film starring the director -
--- a National Lampoon film -
--- a British film -
--- a film with a commentary -
--- a film with a "riff" -
--- something animated -
--- something with a major holiday theme -
--- takes place on a vacation -
--- film version or a reunion movie of a sitcom -
--- a mockumentary –

For the mustache theme night would Anchorman count? Will Ferrell doesn't have a mustache but in this movie he does?

I see I threw out the Monty Python members item when I did my last edit of the checklist. Sorry about that. I was afraid the checklist was getting too long and threw out a bunch if stuff.
If the character in the film has a mustache, it counts. Groucho's 'stache is painted on in the Marx Brothers films (I'm not even sure if he ever had a mustache until he did You Bet Your Life on TV), and he'd have to count.

Oh, well...! I imagine I can still watch them in whatever I like.
Did you save the excised items anywhere, by chance...? I'd be interested in the 'expanded' list if you happened to save it.

You can add to the current one by adding back stuff from last year's checklist (like directors and writers).

Awesome prizes! Cannot wait to get started with the challenge. Though I am fast realizing that they aren't really "challenges" for me but really just a way to organize/limit my viewing selections from "all-the-freakin'-movies-in-the-world" to a more manageable category. Also, is it weird that I find Peter Sellers strangely attractive?

Less than 24 hours to go and I can't wait. After a month of horror, I'm ready to get my laugh on.

^I've actually watched a few horror/comedy titles the past couple of days. I probably should have saved them for tomorrow but I was needing a bit of a break.

I've watched a couple horror comedy titles since dusk. I'm not the only one who's started I hope. 100+ horror films was exhausting. I'm ready for some straight comedy, and I'm sure my wife is too.

I don't know if Giles stickied the list thread or if someone requested it, but thanks to whoever made it happen. That's the quickest I've ever seen one stickied.
I watched a couple of things that counted for both challenges; Class Reunion (1982) (I can't believe that piece of crap was written by John Hughes) and The Frighteners (1996).
