"Saved by the Bell" Collection - 11/5/13

SOURCE

Here's the write-up from Amazon; my only complaint is they're not including "The College Years", "Hawaiian Style", and "Wedding in Las Vegas".

Go back to Bayside High School and catch up with your favorite teens when Saved By The Bell: The Complete Collection arrives on DVD November 5 from Lionsgate Home Entertainment. America's hit '90s television sitcom that changed the face of Saturday morning television follows Zack (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) and his friends Screech (Dustin Diamond), Kelly (Tiffani Thiessen), Jessie (Elizabeth Berkley), A.C. (Mario Lopez) and Lisa (Lark Voorhies) as they go through their adventures at Bayside High School. Containing seasons one through five, the set includes previously released bonus materials plus brand new special features including an all-new "making of" documentary and new cast and crew interviews that fans will love! The Saved By The Bell: The Complete Collection 13-disc DVD set will be available for the suggested retail price of $49.98.

Watch as the gang goes through their fun-filled days at school and their antic-filled nights at their favorite hangout, The Max. Heartthrobs Zack and A.C. are always breaking hearts. Kelly is the prettiest and most popular girl in school. Screech is the class clown and Lisa is mostly occupied with her love of fashion. Jessie is the neutralizing force, all while school principal, Mr. Belding, tries to connect with the younger generation.

DVD SPECIAL FEATURES*

"Saturday Morning: From Toons to Teens" featurette - Former network executives, television historians, key creative figures and Saved By The Bell fans discuss how Saved By The Bell not only changed the face of Saturday morning television but created a shift in overall youth programming still felt today.

"It's Alright: Back to the Bell" documentary - provides a comprehensive and personal account of the creation of this cultural icon

Doesn't look like they'll be including "This Ain't Saved by the Bell" either.

It's a rights issue.

That, and those aren't part of the series.

But doesn't the syndicated package include Good Morning, Miss Bliss (with Zack Morris intros), the College Years, and the two movies broken up into 4 episodes each? A complete collection really should include all that.

Those were cleared to be part of the syndicated package but if they want to include them in any other form of release they have to renegotiate to include them. The same thing happened with Macgyver. The two movies were part of the syndicated package but they couldn't include them in the DVD sets.

Personally I think it would be awesome to have a DVD set with SBTB, SBTB:TCY, The new class, and the two made for TV movies.

Seems a bit high to me...

Right now Amazon has a package of all 5 seasons in the original packaging for $30. It'll set you back ~$32 if you purchase those same sets individually. (all from MP vendors "fulfilled by Amazon")

*BUT* that's on 12 discs as opposed to 22 for the new set. I'd say that new set is SS discs and may be preferable for that reason in spite of the higher price.

Yeah, flipper discs have sucked since their inception.

??? I have the original season sets and they aren't flipper discs. 5 for S1&2, 4 for S3&4 and 3 for S5. All single sided.

Also Amazon says this box set has 13 discs, not 22. Seeing as how I highly doubt there are 10 discs of bonus features, My guess is it's the original 12 discs plus a 13th that includes the new special features.

^Works for me. I don't own the set and was going by the disc count on Amazon for the original releases and the disc count from the OPs' Amazon quote on the "new" set. In that case I'd absolutely go for the sets from Amazon MP vendors and save a few $$.

The Amazon listing has been updated with a 13-disc count, and a running time of 2,268 minutes. I've changed the first post to match.

I just thought of this: wouldn't it be great if the show's episode of "True Hollywood Story" were included on this set?

Any word if these are the syndicated versions that were released on DVD a decade ago?
