DVD disc problem
Hello,
I recently rented a DVD from my local school library. I tried to play it on my MacBook but it won't read the disc. I look down at the bottom and I see gray streaks at the bottom of the disc. Does anybody know what this is on the bottom of the disc and what I can do to fix it?

Can you describe the streaks ? Do they look sort of like a fog, like what you'd get if you breathed on the disc ? Or does it look like some sort of smear ? What about scratches or the age of the disc ?

Plus, if you rented it then just take it back, tell them it won't play and either get your rental fee back or else get a different copy of the same DVD. This seems a no-brainer to me! I have rented several discs which had to be returned and/or exchanged because they were in such poor condition that they wouldn't play.
