LOTR EE Blu-ray question

I was looking to buy the extended editions of the LOTR on blu-ray and went to Amazon. I was surprised when I saw "What do you get?
Both the theatrical and extended versions of The Return of the King are on one double-sided disc." Here's the link for Return of The King.

Anyone know if there's any truth to this description?

Weren't the extended blu-ray editions Target exclusives? The exclusivity normally runs out for most of these things but I just got mine around Christmas from Target for $10 each.

I think Amazon's description is incorrect. If you zoom in on the back cover pictured on Amazon, it states that you're getting the theatrical edition with a preview of the extended edition.

I believe the complete extended Blu-ray set has each movie spread out over two discs. So I don't see why they'd release a single Blu-ray containing both the theatrical and extended editions. Even if they used branching, I would think the quality would be subpar. The second disc in the set is a handful of extras.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the link you provided is for the theatrical edition only.

That text is being incorrectly shared from the 2006 "triple dip" Limited Edition:

I don't, but here are a couple of lengthy existing threads in the HD Talk area where you might find some answers:

Re: LOTR EE Blu-ray question

Thanks folks for the quick posts. I was hoping to do the Best Buy U&S and get the EE but found that they only carry the theatrical version. Oh well.

OP, please close the thread
