More important-DVD schedule or TV Schedule?

So there is a Superbowl today. I still have Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea(season 3) scheduled for today at the same time. So it's safe to say that my DVD/Blu-ray schedule is priority one while what's on TV is priority two.

My dad alway's mentions that there is nothing on TV. There's plenty on DVD.

I don't schedule anything. I watch what I feel like watching when I feel like watching it. I already have to follow a schedule at work...I'm not going to start doing so in my personal life.

Agreed w/Ed. Which is why I don't participate in any of the challenges in this forum. I watch what I want when I want with no obligations

What is this "Superbowl" of which you speak?

I mainly watch my DVDs. While I *do* participate in the challenges I don't "schedule" beyond the challenge theme and just select based on my mood at the time.

"Watching" broadcast TV is something that's done as background noise while on the computer, etc. with no schedule.

Agreed, I watch what I want, when I want.
I did sign up for cable (Prism, actually) about a month ago so I am able to get broadcast stuff again, but it's all DVRed.
Pretty much my only schedule is what TV show on DVD I'm in the mood to watch a season of, and choosing between a 30 min and 60 min show based on the time I have to watch. I don't watch just random episodes.
I do have to schedule watching a movie, but I'm seeing more in theatres thanks to MoviePass.

I love my DVR because I am not a fan of scheduled television, I want to watch every episode of the shows I watch in order, that is a given, I just do not care to watch most things live, ads are annoying so I like to skip those, I may be doing other things, the days of watching shows the minute they air have been over for me in the long run, unless I so happen to really feel like watching it then and there.

Re: More important-DVD schedule or TV Schedule?

The only thing we watch on TV anymore is the 6:00 news. That's it. So, TV scheduling doesn't exist at our house beyond that. As far as DVDs go, I like to break things up a bit, so one night we'll watch a movie, the next a TV series, the next night a movie, and so on and so forth. That way we don't get bored with any one thing. If we start a trilogy, we'll watch part 1 on movie night, then the TV series the followng night, then part 2, etc. If the movie isn't very long we'll watch an episode from the series after the movie (or sometimes even before the movie if the movie is particularly good and I want the mood from the movie to carry over instead of the series).

The advertising on television has gotten to the point where watching regular TV is painful for both of us. It's gotten to the point where commercials make my stomach tie up in knots, it pisses me off that we have to sit there through 3 or 4 minutes of brainless advertising every 5 to7 minutes. Fuck that.

Not sure when it happened, it really annoys me these days, maybe it was all the movies and television on dvd that spoiled me to no ads, CW is horrible with ads, five minutes of show, five of ads, and repeat, even with the DVR it gets on my nerves, I am not a fan of having my programs disrupted like that, the concept is hokey.

I imagine many people just want until shows that look good come to video, rent, buy, library and that way they can also make sure it was not canceled on a cliffhanger. I was thinking of doing that myself at one point.

That's how I am during the challenges. I only take part in 3 of them. I don't schedule anything there either. I just pick whatever I feel like watching that fits the challenge.

Spottedfeather, it wouldn't hurt you to get up, go out and take a long walk or something during the course of that schedule. For health reasons, if nothing else. (Unless you're actually on a treadmill or exercise bike while you're watching all that TV. In which case...never mind.)

Tv Schedule, what TV schedule? DVDs enable me to watch whatever I want to watch when I want to. I've been collecting DVDs for a little over six years now, (I began collecting after "Cutting the Cord" when I got fed up with paying too much money to watch commercial-infested programming ). My signature bears testimony as to what $65.00 a Month (The Subscription Fee I was paying prior to January of 2007) can buy.

I've been able to find most of the TV Shows and Movies I like to watch. From Big Box Stores such as Best Buy and Wal-Mart, to On-Line Sites such as Amazon, I've scoured Flea Markets and Garage Sales, and finally Trading Sites such as E-Bay and others. Seek and you shall find!
