I wish I had been able to make a bigger dent in my Irwin Allen sets, but life just got in the way at times. Oh well, anyways, my list is finalized.

Thanks to Mister Peepers for hosting the challenge; my "list" is now finalized. I haven't participated as much as I'd have liked. Highlight was introducting my daughter to The Neverending Story; low point was Scorpion King.

My piss-poor excuse for a list is also finalized. Life got in the way this year.

Regardless, thanks for another excellent job as host, MP.

Does finalized mean that you're done adding things to it? Or do we have to do something in particular? If it just means that you're done adding things, mine is finalized as well.

Finalized can be as simple as you are done adding things, or you can make your list pretty too if you want. Myself, I just count it as I am done adding things.

My list is finalized! I had such a fun time participating in this challenge. There were quite a few entries on other lists that piqued my interest. I have some more films to check out!

Not sure what happened to me, but man did I fizzle towards the end. I did finish the last season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer finally.. I was going through my big set when I found this forum and got sidetracked by my first horror movie challenge and had never gotten back. I also watched the first 2 extended LOTR movies, and definitely enjoyed the first one more this time then I did the first time, still waiting on netflix to send the 3rd one but its been on very long wait for 2 weeks ugh, going to keep it at the top though no matter what challenge it ends up coming during.

Re: 5th Annual Summer Sci-Fi/Fantasy Challenge Discussion Thread

My last few challenges have been so poor that I haven't even included the checklist. I didn't finish my Potter marathon, I didn't see TDKR, and I didn't resume Buffy. But I did crack open my TNG BD sampler, and I did get in some good first-time views: Resident Evil Afterlife, John Carter (intentionally held off on it till the challenge), Alien 3 (didn't finish #4), Prometheus (conveniently didn't get around to it till the challenge), and Moon.

orlmac 08-11-12 10:12 AM

Re: 5th Annual Summer Sci-Fi/Fantasy Challenge Discussion Thread

My list is finalized. I completed the checklist with no duplications. The average time of the movies I watched was 1 hour, 40 minutes. All of my watches but 3 were first-time. I broke them down by where I got the movie from, the breakdown is as follows:

TCM HD 31:50:13 23
Borrowed DVD 7:13:38 19 (Anime Episodes)
Netflix DVD 12:31:46 8
Library DVD 10:10:15 6
Netflix Blu-Ray 10:40:43 6
Netflix Streaming 7:18:51 5
Blockbuster DVD 7:12:01 4
Theater 8:30:00 4
Family Video Blu-Ray 5:50:36 3
Personal DVD 5:14:13 3
Encore Action 2:59:07 2
Family Video DVD 3:10:34 2
Blockbuster Blu-Ray 1:58:15 1
Epix HD 1:40:39 1
Epix 3 HD 1:52:41 1
Epix on Demand 1:28:00 1
HBO HD 1:35:30 1
HBO Family HD 1:35:20 1
HDNet Movies 1:35:40 1
Movieplex 1:31:41 1
Showtime Beyond HD 1:37:45 1
Showtime Showcase HD 1:33:47 1

Since I'm trying to watch as many new watches as possible it seems that I'm starting to run out of TCM movies to watch. I will have enough for maybe one more year of the Sci-Fi challenge and maybe 2-3 more Horror challenges so I may have to resort to other means to get my movies. I envy you all that have so many movies in your personal collections.

The results of the drawings for prize winners and an overall ranking based on the amount watched. I'm not fancy like the other guys, so I don't use a lot of tables and graphics.

And speaking of prizes, you should be excited...

Thanks for running the challenge Mister Peepers!

Special Thanks to the sponsors!

Thanks to everyone who helped this first timer out with suggestions and answers! I had fun participating and was very surprised to win first time out! :) I liked this one so much I decided to do the animation challenge as well, though don't know if I'll do more after that. These challenges are definitely making me go through my unwatched piles! I don't feel as guilty for not watching movies as they come in as much now! I was merely waiting for the right challenge!
