Watching the 1989 remake of the Zatoichi series, Zatoichi-The Blind Swordsman on Crackle right now and I noticed a very simiar song to the one played on Samaritan Zatoichi. Did all of the Zatoichi films have the same or similar song played during the movie at some point?

Just hit 86 with The Dogfighters on Hulu, and I have 4 days left to go to make 100. I need to kick it up a notch it seems as I slowed down a bit the last couple days.

First Wonder Con and then work kept my DVD watching at seriously low levels the past couple of weeks (only two movies and three serial chapters since March 19). But all that is about to change starting this evening! I've got tomorrow off and all of Saturday open so Watch My Dust people, Watch My Dust!!

Unless something gets in the way I should hit 150 tonight. I'm currently at 148 so getting in a pair of 90 min. films should be doable. If not... there's still Tomorrow night and all day Saturday. I'm currently shooting to finish the checklist (minimal requirements on some items). All I need is another pair of directors. I have what I need but just need to decide *which* films to watch.

I finished the third leg of my organized-crime spree, Casino, following GoodFellas and Scarface. I'd like to add The Untouchables, but I've seen it many times before and I'd rather sneak in a few more first-time views.

The end of this challenge is quickly approaching, I plan on doing a 24-hour, non-stop film watch tomorrow, starting with the Dirty Harry movies (hence the quote on my list). I've surpassed my goal of 31 movies, but there's no way I'll hit 100 -- don't see the point in watching a bunch of 3-min trailers just to increase my count(i only count movies for these challenges).
One question, how long after the challenge ends do we get to finalize our lists/checklist? I didn't fill in the checklist, as I assumed I'd have time to complete it after the challenge ended. With past challenges, we usually get a couple weeks, right? Is it safe to assume that's the same for this one?

Do Documentaries about Action Films & Stars count? I'm going to watch the last two Bond films & then the Updated version of Bond Girls Are Forever.

Just watched Red, twice. What a gas, and the cast was loaded. Especially liked John Malkovich, Helen Mirren, and ditzy Mary Louise Parker.

I had a great day action/adventure day, watching the first two Die Hard films and the last Jurassic Park film. Lots of stellar action and really fun moments. Of course, Jurassic Park III is definitely not the most auspicious film, but it is serviceable fun with Sam Neill at the helm, looking exasperated at the litany of morons surrounding him.
I was surprised at how much I enjoyed Die Hard 2. Great action sequences and some really nice twists. I just wish that at least one of the villains had been half as compelling as Alan Rickman.

Re: The 1st Annual DVDTalk Action/Adventure/Crime Challenge - March 1st - 31st, 2012
Well, I made it to 91 with last night’s viewing of THE HOODLUM, which also kicked off my B-movie Challenge.
I had so much stuff I wanted to watch for this that I wound up postponing everything that would qualify for the B-movie/Exploitation Challenge. I tried to watch things that wouldn’t be eligible for any other challenges. I watched one Hitchcock I hadn’t previously seen—ROPE—but didn’t get to two others on my view list: I CONFESS and STAGE FRIGHT. Among other first-time viewings, I watched RIPLEY’S GAME, a European adaptation of the Patricia Highsmith novel that never got released theatrically here. I watched John Garfield’s last film, HE RAN ALL THE WAY, and Fritz Lang’s last American film, BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT, neither of which were very good, but I’m glad I finally saw them. I watched a Denzel Washington triple feature: DEVIL IN A BLUE DRESS, THE TAKING OF PELHAM 1 2 3, and UNSTOPPABLE, but didn’t get to AMERICAN GANGSTER, which was also on my view pile. I’m happy that I finally got to John Frankenheimer’s THE YOUNG SAVAGES, a fascinating New York gang drama that represents a sobering balance to WEST SIDE STORY, which got released the same year. TOO LATE FOR TEARS is an unsung noir drama I’d somehow avoided all these years but was a real surprise.
All of this meant I didn’t get to the anime, kung fu, yakuza, samurai and serial chapters I wanted to cover. Or more from the Police Story and TV westerns box sets.
Things I was glad I revisited for this:
HE WALKED BY NIGHT – classic police procedural noir
THE LAW AND JAKE WADE – good tough 1950s western
I DIED A THOUSAND TIMES – remake of HIGH SIERRA in color and Cinemascope
THE MAN FROM THE ALAMO – opens with a credible recreation of the Alamo and then deals with the aftermath/highly original script
ONE-ARMED SWORDSMAN – HK martial arts classic
AL CAPONE – Rod Steiger’s over-the-top performance fits the character
I WAS A COMMUNIST FOR THE FBI – really interesting slice of postwar history
QUICKSAND – Mickey Rooney plays a creepy petty criminal—the perfect part for him
PUBLIC ENEMIES – Michael Mann’s Depression-era crime epic
I wanted to follow up AL CAPONE with ST. VALENTINE’S DAY MASSACRE and CAPONE, but they qualify for the B-movie Challenge because of the Roger Corman connection, so I saved them for this month.
Didn’t quite finish the checklist. I never did watch a silent film or anything that won an Oscar, although a couple of them got nominated.

Ended with 35, hoped to watch all 5 Dirty Harry movies yesterday but 'something came up' as things tend to do at the last minute. I surpassed my personal goal and had some fun so I have no regrets. The month of April will be extremely busy for me, so I won't even try the Drive-in/Exploitation/B-Movie Challenge, however I will be back for the big Horror Challenge in October.

I realize I missed the cutoff for the challenge, but I finally got around to watching Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King today. What a fantastic movie! Thought the first two were well-made, but didn't really do much to get me excited. The final one had some of the most epic battle sequences I've ever seen.
