Puppet Master - Full Moon vs Echo Bridge vs New Video Group?
Does anybody know what differences (quality, extras) there are between the releases of the Puppet Master movies by Full Moon, Echo Bridge and New Video Group?

Re: Puppet Master - Full Moon vs Echo Bridge vs New Video Group?
If you do a search, there should be a thread with info on the Echo Bridge release. Can't recall any info on New Video Group.

Re: Puppet Master - Full Moon vs Echo Bridge vs New Video Group?
Yea, there were a few threads before:
Echo Bridge to Re-Release Full Moon Titles Fullm moon DVDs Puppet Master Collection - All 9 'canon' movies 11/9/10 (this is the New Video Group release) But there never seemed to be any definitive info, I was hoping we could have one definitive thread comparing the different releases. The only official info is that the original Full Moon releases have all of the movies 4:3 (except the Puppet Master 1 re-release and Axis of Evil, both in widescreen) and each features a making-of/videozone feature. Apparently at least some of the Echo Bridge releases are stretched to widescreen? I believe there was differing reports on that. And only some had the making-of? And there was talk that the New Video Group release was the same discs as the original Full Moon releases? The confusion I have there is that the info only states that it has making-ofs 1, 2, 3, 5 and Axis, but the original releases each had one. |

To try and simplify things, here's a list of what has been released by who, with links to reviews that I've found:
Full Moon: Puppet Master boxset (1-5, Curse, Retro, Full Moon Trailer Reel) (review) Puppet Master (Spanish Import) Puppet Master 2 (Spanish Import) Puppet Master 3 (Spanish Import) Curse of the Puppet Master Retro Puppet Master (review) Puppet Master Legacy Full Moon Archive Box Set (includes 1-3 and 15 other Full Moon films) Puppet Master Re-mastered (also on Blu-ray) Puppet Master: Axis of Evil (also on Blu-ray) New Video Group/Flatiron Film Puppet Master Collection (1-5, Curse, Retro, Legacy, Axis of Evil) (review states it has better picture quality than Echo Bridge, and includes trailers and making-of's) Echo Bridge: Puppet Master (review states it includes No-Strings Attached feature) Puppet Master 2 (review states it includes videozone) Puppet Master 3 (review states it includes videozone) Puppet Master 4 Puppet Master 5 Curse of the Puppet Master Double Feature (5, Curse) (review) The Midnight Horror Collection (1, 2, 3) (review states 1 is 1.85:1 and 2 and 3 are 1.33:1, includes video zone [presumably for 3]) The Midnight Horror Collection Vol 2 (4, 5, Curse) (review states they are all 1.33:1 with no features) Anchor Bay: Puppet Master vs. Demonic Toys (review) Razor Digital Entertainment: Puppet Master (2D & 3D) (reportedly is uncut and 3D is very bad) |
Re: Puppet Master - Full Moon vs Echo Bridge vs New Video Group?
Puppet Master vs Demonic Toys is not considered cannon.

Re: Puppet Master - Full Moon vs Echo Bridge vs New Video Group?
It's still a Puppet Master movie, so I included it to be complete.
Does anyone have the New Video Group release? Can they confirm what extras are on it? Oh, and I added the Razor Digital release of the first movie to the summary post. |
Re: Puppet Master - Full Moon vs Echo Bridge vs New Video Group?
The Razor release is uncut.
The 3D is only bad because it wasn't originally 3D, so it's bad in the way that nothing is really 3D. It's basically watching the film through glasses that have flickering lenses because that's exactly what you're doing. I've tried watching 2D movies through them and it looks the same exact way. |

You wouldn't feel that compulsion if you had seen it.

I think I'm the only person who actually does like that movie. Much better than the few that came out before it...
