The Marx Brothers became entertainment icons through a long and brilliant career on vaudeville and Broadway stages, and they sealed their immortality in a string of celebrated feature films. But the end of their film career was perfectly timed for a collision with the birth of television. The new medium provided Groucho, Chico and Harpo with unprecedented exposure — which meant, of course, an opportunity to bring laughter to millions of people all at once. It was as if live vaudeville was being beamed to the entire nation. For the next 20 years, the Marx Brothers' appearances on television — individually and together — included sitcoms, game shows, variety programs and even the occasional drama.

This first of its kind set — featuring long-lost material from the Marx Brothers' own collections — presents a broad and genuinely rare array of television work from the comedy legends, who still had plenty of laughs left in them after the movies. For Marx Brothers fans — and fans of comedy in general — this is truly must–see TV.

Over 50 Television Appearances
GE Theater, The Jack Benny Program, The Jackie Gleason Show, The Colgate Comedy Hour, The Dick Cavett Show, All Star Revue, The Dinah Shore Chevy Show, Kraft Music Hall, The Red Skelton Hour, The RCA Victor Show, The Perry Como Show, The Arthur Murray Party, Championship Bridge, Celebrity Golf, Celebrity Billiards and many, many more!

Always drives me nuts when they make Harpo's hair blond. He had a red wig.

Re: Marx Brothers Newbie

the marx brothers are brilliant, prob my all time favorite comedy team, in a totally different class than the 3 stooges, alot of thier humor would go way over the head of the average 3 stooges fan, and it is amazing how well alot of it holds up today, even though the condition of alot of the prints of thier films is just atrocious. really needs a remaster job bad, but i dont think it will ever happen. if you like the marx brothers, watch the 90's animated show animaniacs, totally influenced by the marx brothers. there was also a comedy movie made in the early 90s called brain donors which is pretty much a reboot of night at the opera

Re: Marx Brothers Newbie

my favorite groucho line is from animal crackers where he proposes marriage to 2 different women at the same time and one of them says, but that would be bigamy, to which groucho replies, yes that would be very big of me. he even takes the joke 1 step further by going on, marrying 1 person is so old hat, it was good enough for your grandmother, but who would want to marry your grandmother, not even your grandfather.

I have heard so many outrageous stories about the marx brothers like the time that they had a meeting with a big hollywood producer who was late and kept them waiting in his office, when he finally got there late, they were sitting in his office waiting for him, stripped down totally naked sitting in front of the fireplace in his office

and

Under the comment of the sole Amazon review someone stated this was pulled from another site -

Chico and Harpo Marx played hapless would-be thieves in "The Incredible Jewel Robbery," a 1959 "General Electric Theater" episode done without dialogue and featuring a closing-scene cameo by Groucho (the final appearance of the trio together). This three-disc set of 50 of the siblings' small-screen appearances also includes installments of "The Jack Benny Program," "The Colgate Comedy Hour," "Kraft Music Hall," "The Perry Como Show," "The Red Skelton Hour," and other comedy/variety series, plus Chico on "Championship Bridge With Charles Goren," "Celebrity Golf" with Harpo, and Groucho on "Celebrity Billiards." Standard; Soundtrack: English.

Possibly. But that was his next to next to last movie. Here's video from his last movie and here's an appearance with Lucy in the 50s. Also, he was bald, so I doubt that was ever his hair.

Thank you so much for that as I'm definitely going to be getting this...would love to see Groucho's appearance at the Friar's Roast from way back when too. Also throw in his and Margaret DuMont's appearance on the Hollywood Palace show together.
