He hasn't been active on the board in nearly a month. Very weird. I've always wondered what would happen in one of these challenges if the person in charge of it vanished. Guess we're finding out, lol.

It happened earlier this year with the Cult/Exploitation challenge.

Didn't he pop up in October and say he would finish it?

Answered my own question. Yep. 10/22:

He can start a discussion thread for the 20112012 Drive-In Challenge in a few months. Maybe he's waiting for that.

If anyone's interested, I can tally up the very basic results. I'm not interested in getting involved in the prize stuff but I wouldn't mind getting the results together and posting them a bit later.

Since it looks like takingchase is MIA, I don't mind doing it.

How does this sound -

Everyone who participated (i.e., watched something during the challenge and listed at least one item in the list thread) is eligible for the drawing. I'll exclude myself.

4 Winners will be picked using random.org.

Here are the prizes:

As always, I have 0 input in who gets what or how. However you guys decide this one, just let me know the winners and their addresses. (Normally when you are notified you won you just pm the challenge runner your address and he passes it on to me).

Congrats to whoever wins and it looks like this was a very successful inaugural challenge!
Winners will be announced in this thread and contacted by PM.

Winners will have 5 days to respond and claim their prizes. Then I'll re-draw names for any unclaimed prizes.

(Basically, I'll do it the same way I picked winners for the Make Your Own Challenge.)

Here's the list of eligible participants:

3onameathook
acubfaninmd
Ash Ketchum
Bladz
BobO'Link
cardsfan111
Chad
coyoteblue
DarthMaher
davidh777
Doc Moonlight
EdTheRipper

hbsub
HyperWeather
indy2003
Indy24LA
Jeffy Pop
JHCA13
jmsmath
KaBluie
Mister Peepers
mrcellophane
MrTerrific
Numes
ororama
pagefrance
Popcorn
robert2339
ross_r
screwadu
shadokitty
Supermike07
terrycloth
TNAJason
Trevor
William Fuld
wishbone

If you want to opt-out of the drawing let me know.

Not to be critical of those volunteering to step up, but this was from the OP:

  • Achieve 100 viewings for the month
  • Finish the checklist
  • Finish the theme night

This will seem self-serving since this is the first time ever I completed a checklist and participated in a theme night option. But not to worry. I've never won a prize from a monthly challenge. And although my odds will increase if this approach is taken, I've now jinxed myself.

No problem, thanks for pointing that out. It'll just take a little more effort on my part to see who finished the checklist and who did the theme nights (Ed already listed the people who watched over 100).

Re: First Ever November Comedy Challenge discussion/suggestions/comments thread

Okay, I finally took the time to look at everyone's lists and here are the folks who get extra entries for the prize drawing:

Watched over 100 items:

BobO'Link
cardsfan111
KaBluie
wishbone

Completed the Checklist:

BobO'Link
cardsfan111
HyperWeather
KaBluie

Completed Theme Night Participation:

BobO'Link
cardsfan111
jmsmath
KaBluie

If I missed anyone, let me know. I plan on drawing the names tomorrow.

Re: First Ever November Comedy Challenge discussion/suggestions/comments thread

The prize winners have been chosen, and have been notified by PM.

The winners are:

William Fuld
KaBluie
Ash Ketchum
MrTerrific

Stealing another idea from Chad, I decided to let them have some say in which item they won (to avoid anyone winning a DVD they already had, Chad asked us to let him know if we already owned any of the Horror Challenge prizes). I've asked the four winners to list the four prizes in order of most wanted to least wanted (in case two, or more, people list the same DVD as their favorite, the first to respond by PM will get it).

I'll list who gets what after I've sorted that out.

If I haven't heard back from all of the winners by next Monday, I'll have another drawing for any unclaimed prize(s). So if you didn't get picked this time, there's still hope.

Thanks to takingchase (MIA) for starting this challenge, thanks to GoldenWheels for assisting with the prizes, and thanks to Dimension X for helping conclude this challenge. A real team effort!

Congrats to the winners!

Nice to win, but BobO'Link and Cardsfan 111 should get something before I do, given that they completed three of the main requirements, neither of which I did. Effort like that should be rewarded. (Although, damn, I do want that Sgt. Bilko set.)

Thanks for the "nod" but I'm cool with how the prizes were awarded and wouldn't want someone to not get their prize for that reason. I'm hoping one of 'em doesn't notify Dimension X and I'll get picked on the 2nd chance round. So... make sure you notify Dimension X and put that Bilko set at the top of your list!
If you have a Big Lots nearby check there for a S1 set. It is in a recent batch of $10 TVonDVD seasons. I was lucky and found one!

Now... if GoldenWheels wants to throw something extra towards Cardsfan 111 and me, I'm OK with that!

Re: First Ever November Comedy Challenge discussion/suggestions/comments thread

I've received the first response from one of the winners. William Fuld has claimed Sgt. Bilko: The Phil Silvers 50th Anniversary Edition. I've forwarded your info to GoldenWheels. Thanks for the quick response.

Yeah, it's kind of rough to see people not be rewarded for that much effort, but it was decided long ago to go with random drawings for these challenges to keep people from getting too competitive (and argumentative). You won, fair and square. If you decline your prize, I'm just going to have another random drawing, so there's no guarantee either of them will get anything. (On the other hand, I did only request an address for GoldenWheels to send your prize to, I never said it had to be your address. If you want to work out something with someone else, that's up to you.)

I was lucky enough to find one of those last Friday. Unfortunately, I didn't find Lucy S1 or S2 at either of the 2 Big Lots near me, and it's not worth traveling to the next closest one just to hope to find one or two things.

Re: First Ever November Comedy Challenge discussion/suggestions/comments thread

I've received the second PM response from one of the winners. KaBluie's first choice had already been claimed (who knew Phil Silvers was so popular?), so he will get his second choice, Mae West: The Glamour Collection.

I've forwarded your info to GoldenWheels. Thanks for the quick response.

Two down, two to go.

Comedy Classics 100 Movie Set and Mystery Science Theater 3000 XXII are still in play.
