Dark of the Sun (1968) Coming to Warner Archive

Warner sent out the latest list of Archive releases, and it includes one that I've been waiting for a long, long time... Dark of the Sun with Rod Taylor and Jim Brown as mercenaries in the Belgian Congo. They also have a number of other action films, including another seldom seen favorite of mine, The Double Man with Yul Brynner (playing a dual role as a spy and an enemy spy impersonating him). Dark of the Sun is remastered.

They also have a Father's Day sale, with 50 action DVDs, including the recent group of releases, available for $5 off with free ground shipping.

The sale price isn't enough for me to bite now, but I'm getting a good wish list for the next time they have a 5 for 50 sale on the Archive.

Great movie. When I first saw the banner for the new releases with just the star's names, not titles I thought I'd finally get The Liquidator w/Rod Taylor.

I don't know who has the rights to it, but I'd also love to see Rod Taylor as Travis McGee in Darker than Amber get released some time.

Probably Paramount. It's a Cinema Center film released theatricaly by National General. Two other Cinema Center/National General films are Le Mans and Big Jake. Both on Paramount dvd.

As well as PRIME CUT, MONTE WALSH, MAN CALLED HORSE, LITTLE BIG MAN, all with Paramount.

I picked up the Thai DVD earlier this year, so my streak continues! The review here suggests that the WA is uncut and the print has to be better, so I'll definitely be double-dipping on this one (if the fact that I own an original one-sheet and insert for this flick wasn't clue enough).
