Blue Underground Should Release Clownhouse

Hello everyone, I have been thinking about this for a while now and I would like to hear what you guys think of this. So I love the Blue Underground releases they have some of the best Cover and Disc Art and they are just mint releases. I also love how they focus on more old Horror/Slashers Films. Anyways one of my all time favorite films is Clownhouse and the DVD version of it is so hard to find and so pricy I've seen it go for $300 and up. I was thinking it would be really sweet if Blue Underground released Clownhouse. I would probably buy like 10 copies lol. But what do you guys think.

Thanks.

Have you ever seen Clownhouse? It's really not that great a movie, so stick with just one copy.

Seriously though, I'd be very surprised if this movie ever saw any sort of re-release.

If you know the history of the movie, you know most studios would be wary of getting the rights to distribute the film. I think we're lucky to have the DVD that was put out. I can't see Blue Underground making an effort in acquiring the rights to the movie.

Re: Blue Underground Should Release Clownhouse

Rumor has it that it was Nathan Winters himself who contacted MGM and had them cancel that original DVD release. I wouldn't blame him at all if this is what happened, although I have no evidence about any of it. If you recall, CLOWNHOUSE was scheduled to get released alongside 6 or 7 other MGM horror titles all on the same date, but then only CLOWNHOUSE mysteriously got pulled from the schedule a few weeks before streetdate and canceled completely. Copies had already been printed and some leaked out at that time and were already immediately going for collectors' prices. Later on, maybe a year or so after, it seemed like a large batch of stock had found its way to some independent distributor who seemed to have tons of them, and it was readily available at a regular retail price again from that site. Eventually, those all sold off and now it's back up again in value. If MGM still holds the rights to the film, I think they will just keep it locked away forever at this point due to all the controversy. And I doubt they would license it out to anyone else, either, as that would still put them in a bad light. I'm just speculating about all of this, of course....

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think Clownhouse fits the Blue Underground mold.

I have the MGM version and it's a decent disc. I would like to see Arrow Video release a region free blu-ray of it I mean if they can release The Funhouse then Clownhouse would be good

It's definatly one of the rare movies I own that I don't worry about being re-released. I will be very surprised if it ever gets released again.

Re: Blue Underground Should Release Clownhouse

Well the only difference between Arrow releasing Funhouse and releasing Clownhouse is that Funhouse isn't Tobe Hoopers tribute to child molestation, but other than that they are almost identical.

Pretty much this.

I think we'll all live if this never gets released again. I think the world would be a better place if everyone who was just dying to watch it simply downloaded a torrent ripped from the MGM DVD.

No one needs to make another dime off this piece of trash.

I actually wouldn't mind if Arrow released a "cut" version that omits the child nudity from the kid. Sam Rockwell was great in it though

Re: Blue Underground Should Release Clownhouse

I really like the idea of Arrow doing a release that would be really sweet, hopefully they will, they seem like the company that would.
