My theory for crappy package complete series is that the new release price is just to fleece the obsessed fans and then a year or so later they'll fill the Costco's of the world with them for $100 for Joe Public - which is actually the market the packaging is for.

Re: Smallville: The Complete Series

My only concern is the UK version does not have the same packaging/ extras as the US/Region 1 release. Living in Denmark, Europe, I am going to go with the UK, unless I turn rich before release, and I would hate it if I missed this packaging and including the DC Daily Planet release as well as the two bonus discs.

Edit: E.g. the UK Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition is missing the 14th disc, as well as the cool lenticular packaging and the comic book thay comes with the US set.

tvshowsondvd.com had an article explaining why there is no BD release. Apparently it involves the special effects for the 1st couple of seasons since they were all produced in SD. They would have to go through some costly re-mastering for BD.

I already have seasons 1-9, just going to pick up 10 eventually and that will be it.

Considering the spending habits of the people in this forum, I would say it's extremely doubtful anyone will pay the $200 sale price for it at Amazon and some B&M's. The lowest price I've seen so far is at WBShop.com for $181.99 and that expires Monday.

same here - no hurry in picking season 10 up - will pickup it under $20.00.

In fact - season 10 starts on TNT this Tuesday - Dec 6 - daily - 12:00 pm ET-1:00 pm ET-
so I'll watch the episodes over again that way.

Wish we could have got season 10 during "Black Friday Week" - either via Amazon or Best Buy -
thats how I got the last five or six seasons - between $10-$15. Would have been cool if I could
have finished off buying seasons of Smallville that way. Hopefully I can find it around that price
before next years "Black Friday Week!" LOL!

Same here, but it didn't come out in time. Perhaps someone will have it on sale the week of Little "Stinker" Day (April 14) this is when I'll have my next purchasing Binge. (This date is approxamatly halfway between Christmas and My Birthday, so it has become my third day to treat myself each year).
