Re: Nickelodeon/Shout! Factory Releases
I'd like the Kenan & Kel set. Shame it's only a best of collection though and not full seasons. It was a bit sad to learn though that Kenan is basically a douche to Kel in real life now though and doesn't want any part of him. I always wondered why they didn't reunite for something or why Kel hasn't guest starred on SNL or something until I learned that.

Re: Nickelodeon/Shout! Factory Releases
Anyone know if there's a reason a handful of episodes are missing? In other words, is the reason this is sort of a "best of" release because they couldn't, for whatever reason, get those last few episodes packaged together to make a full series release?
And on another note, I don't have the link, but for anyone who likes "Hey Dude," TV Guide caught up with the cast (well, most of them) in a reunion and revealed a handful of behind the scenes fun facts.

I haven't watched Are You Afraid of the Dark in a long time but loved it as a kid. Might have to order season one.

For the life of me I don't understand why they're just releasing these on Create Space. I'll wait until Shout! gets hold of the rights and gives these shows a proper release.
EDIT: I've updated the original post to reflect everything that's been released thus far. Here is a breakdown:
So as it stands the only thing that hasn't been released is Danny Phantom: Season 3, but they have released the Complete Series of that show already. If Shout! Factory doesn't hold or obtain the distribution rights for any other shows it would seem they're more or less done with releasing Nickelodeon shows on DVD. Of course, I hope that's not the case because there's still a number of classic shows they could still release (and which have already been released on Amazon Create Space, much like several of the above-listed shows). At the very least I think Doug, Rugrats, and Salute Your Shorts deserve proper releases. But then again, it would be great to see Rocket Power, Clarissa Explains It All, The Fairly OddParents, etc. all get actual releases as well. Worth noting though...a lot of these are available for free on Amazon Instant Video if you have a Prime Subscription.
EDIT: I've updated the original post to reflect everything that's been released thus far. Here is a breakdown:
- Aaahh!!! Real Monsters (4 Seasons, 52 Episodes) - 4 out of 4 Seasons and Complete Series Released on DVD
- The Angry Beavers (4 Seasons, 63 Episodes) - 4 out of 4 Seasons and Complete Series Released on DVD
- CatDog (4 Seasons, 68 Episodes) - 4 out of 4 Seasons Released on DVD
- Danny Phantom (3 Seasons, 53 Episodes) - 2 out of 3 Seasons and Complete Series Released on DVD
- Hey Arnold! (5 Seasons, 101 Episodes) - 5 out of 5 Seasons Released on DVD
- Hey Dude (5 Seasons, 65 Episodes) - 5 out of 5 Seasons Released on DVD
- Rocko's Modern Life (4 Seasons, 52 Episodes) - 4 out of 4 Seasons and Complete Series Released on DVD
- The Wild Thornberrys (5 Seasons, 91 Episodes) - 5 out of 5 Seasons Released on DVD

Re: Nickelodeon/Shout! Factory Releases
Wasn't Are You Afraid of the Dark? released as a standard pressed disc up in Canada? I'd just as well import it than do the MOD route. I had ordered Doug Season 3 and the best of Season 4 and I found the quality to be average at best.
I had to Google this. I had no idea.

Yeah I sort of lost some respect for Kenan after learning that. I ordered Are You Afraid of the Dark seasons one and two from Amazon. Hopefully the other five follow soon.

This is a bummer. I was really hoping Shout! would put out a proper release. The fanbase is certainly there. I bought the two missing episodes from Season 4 on iTunes.
The opening credits for Doug is only on the first episode on each disc, so subsequent episodes just roll in to the story after the post-credits of the episode before. It's a really half-assed.

These are the AYATD releases I was talking about. These are Region 1 and are standard pressed.
The original releases went OOP but they started re-issuing them last year. These are complete, as far as I know.

I think I'll just take my chances with the MOD sets. I remember liking the show but it's not worth that much to me to pay that much more for them.

Re: Nickelodeon/Shout! Factory Releases
All of the new MOD sets include opening credits for every episode, as I understand it. (Kenan & Kel, Rocket Power and the new complete Rugrats seasons do. I imagine same goes for all of the other newbies, like the new Doug set, AYAOTD and My Brother & Me, but that's just speculation.)

Doug is at 22.99 right now. Such a nice price... but I want to wait to see what other people say about it.

I just got AYAOTD? Season 1... it arrived scratched... I'm just going to send it back and download all the seasons. Probably be the same quality.

Got my Are You Afraid of the Dark sets yesterday. Watched the first three episodes of season one and think it holds up surprisingly well.
