The Mother Lode

So I just started working a 2nd job selling stuff on eBay for a pawn shop. I am entitled in 25% off of anything in the store. Movies are 10/$15 so I'll get 10 for $12.50! There are tons of movies that I will be going thru shortly to find what I want. The only bad thing is they aren't organized very well. I have browsed a little and found some gems.
Then I came across 2 editions of the same movie and it got me to thinking, which is best? The Doors - 2 Disc Special Edition (same packaging as Die Hard 5 Star....really thick gray case) and the 15th Anniversary 2 Disc. Which is the best?

Re: The Mother Lode

Oh, I thought this thread would be about the Charlton Heston movie.

In my experience, Fox's post-Five Star special editions replicated the content of the Five Star editions, but I don't know about this specific title.

I heard we have some Criterions, but I haven't looked through everything yet. I have seen Chasing Amy (Criterion) and I can get it for $2 or so!

Sounds like good place to pick up flicks! You will happy to know that it is even more of a bargain. If you get the 25% discount, you will be getting 10 movies for $11.25!

Re: The Mother Lode

I have also asked some of my co-workers to keep an eye for certain titles. People have 30 days to come back for items, then they become property of the store and are available to be purchased. Store manager said I can look through everything before it hits the floor. The layaway option may be a curse, but luckily it has a $300 cap, so I can't go too crazy.

Re: The Mother Lode

All I know is that the 15th Ann. 2 D is anamorphic with great special features. I believe the other one is not anamorphic! I'd stick with the 15th Ann. Ed.

Ok, thanks. I also checked out the DVD compare link from above and the 15th Anniversary looked to have more content. I didn't actually compare to see if everything was the same or not though.

If I come across any great finds or any other questions I'll post them here. Thanks again for the help.

Re: The Mother Lode

I did see we have The Chaplin Collection #1 for around $10. I really thought about picking it up since I want 3 of the 4 movies. The only thing that has stopped me so far is that Criterion has released Modern Times and The Great Dictator (announced) and I am hoping The Gold Rush will soon follow.

If that's the Warner set, you really can't go wrong for $10. Hardly counts as a double dip.

One of two Criterions found at almost any pawn shop or used DVD section. The other being Armageddon.

The 15th Anniversary Edition. It has an anamorphic transfer and additional extras, if I'm not mistaken.
