It makes me wonder if he sold it back to the pawn shop!

Re: My epic criterion find at a pawn shop

I have a coworker who stores stuff in binders. When he borrowed something, he thought I was giving it to him so he threw away the packaging and put it in his binder. When I asked him for it back, he gave it back in a paper bag. I guess I should be glad he didn't do the same for the Blu-ray digibook I also lent him.

That's why I stopped lending movies out. I didn't pay 10 to 20 bucks on average per DVD to lend to people, in perfect condition, only to get them back like they have been thrown out of a moving car at 50mph.

Nope, I have been sorting them out and getting covers for them. I have sold around 20 of them at Hastings already. I have a HUGE unwatched pile I am slowly getting through.

Now that sucks. If I had done that, I would have ran out and bought a new DVD to replace the case and apologized for the error.

Re: My epic criterion find at a pawn shop

I worked at a used CD/DVD store years back and we'd get "suspect" merchandise every once in a while. The occasional Criterions came through, but they were usually legit. I bought a copy of Seven Samurai on DVD from some fella for $5...it was too scratched for the store to buy it, so I bought it for myself. Turns out it was the 1st pressing with the restoration footage.

This was my boss so it was a bit of an awkward situation
