Married... with Children - Can I Get a Whoa Bundy? 'The Complete Series' Seems Headed to DVD!
Al, Peg, Kelly, Bud and Buck the Dog are headed back to DVD with all 11 seasons!

Peg and Al have been together, for better or worse, for more than two decades. How they survive their relationship is the basis for "Married...With Children." The sitcom represents a distinct departure from the saccharine-sweet television families viewers have known since the days of "Father Knows Best." With unflinching honesty, "Married... With Children" paints a painfully funny picture of a not-so-typical middle-class American family.
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment hasn't announced the title yet, but an Amazon pre-order listing went up today for Married... with Children - The Complete Series on DVD! All 11 seasons of the show are already available separately, as Sony has released them as season sets between October 2003 and October 2009. But this will be the first time the entire run of the show has been offered all together!
The sitcom debuted in April 1987, and has been considered by many to be THE key part of the Fox Network's original primetime line-up. The cast of the show, set in Chicago, was Ed O'Neill (Modern Family) as "Al Bundy", Katey Sagal (Sons of Anarchy, Futurama) as "Peg Bundy", Christina Applegate (Samantha Who?, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy) as "Kelly Bundy", David Faustino (Star-ving) as "Bud Bundy", Amanda Bearse as next-door-neighbor "Marcy", David Garrison as her first husband "Steve Rhodes" and Ted McGinley (Hope & Faith, Happy Days, The Love Boat) as her second husband "Jefferson D'Arcy".
Since Sony hasn't officially announced Married... with Children - The Complete Series, we must currently depend on Amazon's release listing for our information. The e-tailer shows the package art shown below, and is accepting pre-orders at a (nicely!) discounted cost based on a list price of $250.95 SRP. The ship date currently shown, though, appears to be off: it says November 29th at the moment, but that's a Monday. DVDs that sell at general retail always have street dates that fall on a Tuesday, so this one appears to be off somewhat. We've requested clarification on this from the studio, but we haven't gotten the answer back from them yet. Stay tuned, though, and we'll update you further as more about this title becomes clear!

Talk about a missed opportunity. THough I have all the sets, I would have jumped had they done the smartest, simplest, yet coolest thing they could have done. Put the whole series in a Garys Shoestore shoe box....
Unless they go all out with features, its useless for us who have the individual

Unless Sony shelled out the money to get Love & Marriage back as the opening theme, no sale.
I watched an episode on YouTube with that crap they called a theme song and nearly puked all over the school computer.

Ah, my patience pays off...though I agree that it should be in a shoebox. Come on!

It never really bothered me. I always fast forward through the credits anyway.

Yes!!!!
I figured this was coming, I held off buying the sets myself just for this. Let's hope that they include the non-syndicated episodes for whatever season it was that they fucked that up in. Region 2 got the correct ones but we got screwed.
Let's hope we get some new special features as well. Maybe some added commentaries? Promos?
Also, was I the only one who was hoping this was come in a box that was either a shoebox or looked like a shoe?

But they must at least include complete, unedited episodes. They must correct that from the individual releases. If this is just a repackaging of what they've already delivered, I'm not interested.

They also fared better than the US market when it came to Happy Days: the '50s pop songs that were replaced on the US releases were not replaced on the UK ones.

Re: Married With Children - The Complete Series being Released
How bad were the original releases edited? This is another title that has been on my "Hmm, I should get this sometime" list.
I'll have to catch the new theme song - Love and Marriage is pretty much equated with this show for me. But as long as the opening is a chapter, so I can skip it (which I usually do anyway), I probably won't mind too much (or notice).
I'm becoming less of a purist - though I still want OAR, of course, I'd rather get most titles with the music removed, than not get the title at all, or have to pay four times the cost for the rights. I'm sure there are exceptions (WKRP for one, Happy Days for another), and some of this is because I never caught the show 'live' so I have no frame of reference (Daria), but I'm less concerned about the missing music in most titles.
Maybe I missed the discussion when the earlier seasons were released, but...
Steve or Jefferson?
I think I like Steve better, because with him, it seemed to be the guys versus the girls, Al had a compatriot. For the most part, with Jefferson it seemed like Jefferson and Marcy versus/looking down upon the Bundys. It wasn't consistent, of course; since having Peg and Al unify was usually nice to see, and sometimes Jefferson and Al seemed more friendly too. Plus, Jefferson is played by Ted McGinley...I hated that jock.
Heh...Amazon actually sells this
That would be a nice pack in as well.
Hmm..I hope it's marked down quite a bit from MSRP....though there's definitely a great space savings, the full series could currently be purchased for ~185, and thats not looking for any BOGO sales that often include at least certain seasons.

Correct me if I understood your post incorrectly, but you won't buy WKRP ? Why not ? WKRP didn't depend on the music. I cannot recall any specific music from the show. No one who was a real fan of the show would care if it had the original music or not. We don't watch it for that. We watch it for the funny characters and situations.

Well, it's actually been quite some time since I've seen WKRP. I was just trying to come up with a title that the music played an important part in, and went with the easy but not totally correct answer of the show about a radio station.
I agree that the characters and stories/humor/drama is what its about, but sometimes the music can really help support whatever mood the show is going for, and at the very least, instantly identify or associate the show in people's minds.

Re: Married With Children - The Complete Series being Released
OF COURSE.
After most people that care (myself included) have bought all the individual seasons. I have yet to figure out how studios think this is a good decision.
As many others have said, it's certainly not worth the effort of dumping my individual sets to get this, unless it includes all the originally-as-broadcast versions. As it stands, this one is likely to have the replacement theme song on all the episodes (I think the first 3 individual season releases had the original and it changed after that).
And there is the matter of the syndicated seasons on the DVDs too. If I knew the problems were corrected, though I'm sure the theme song issue never will be, it would be an easy sale, but getting butchered product again- no way.

Probably best to speak for yourself and not all the "real fans" out there.
Here's a list of the (extensive) WKRP changes:

(Note: When music needed to be removed and couldn't be seperated cleanly from your funny situations, they just cut the footage.)

I sold off my sets years ago (I was up to season 5 IIRC) when the complete series release trend first became apparent. I wanted to wait for this very set... but I have to say they really dropped the ball by not offering it in some kind of nice packaging, like a shoe box as others have mentioned.
Is there a list anywhere of which seasons contained the edited syndicated episodes?

It's mind boggling to me that people still continue to act surprised and enraged when studios release a complete series set. It's been happening for YEARS and has been the expected norm for some time.

Two that I know of, both from Season 4 are the "Rain Girl" episode and the 2-part "It's A Bundyful Life". However, the "Rain Girl" episode is shown in it entirety in "The Most Outrageous Episodes, Vol II"

Thanks. That sucks, but if it's only 2 episodes out of 11 seasons, I guess I can live with it.
