DVDs that feature the WB Night At The Movies feature

I just watched The Adventures of Rocib Hood and decided to use the WB Night At The Movies option and my family loved it, so I was wondering what other films were released with this option

Forgive me for being clueless, but I'm not familiar with the Night at the Movies option. What is it?

I think the original run of the Gangsters collection had it.

Essentially it was a Warner cartoon and a vintage newsreel that came before the movie. It was supposed to replicate the programming of a vintage theatrical exhibition.

This is the first I've heard of this...and it sounds awesome! Someone needs to get in touch with Warner about how rabidly our membership participates in the annual Horror Challenge; if they could delve into the vaults for a release appropriate for that, they'd sell quite a few copies!

Re: DVDs that feature the WB Night At The Movies feature

The Warner Night at the Movies would include a trailer (not for the film in the DVD but a different Warners movie), a cartoon, a newsreel and one or two shorts. There would typically be about 30 minutes of additional material.

All the additional material would be from the same year as the movie itself, so if you were watching a 1938 movie, you'd see a short, cartoon and newsreel from 1938 as well.

It's a lot of fun. For "newer" films from the late 1940s or early 1950s, they often included some of those Joe McDoakes shorts which were released as part of the Warner Archive.

Re: DVDs that feature the WB Night At The Movies feature

I recall having a few Warner VHS tapes that had the "Night At The Movies" compilations on them, so this feature definitely dates back a few years, to at least the 90's, if not earlier. I think some of the Maltin intros may have been recorded during that era.

Found this at Amazon, though it's probably not complete:
