No, it's not officially out due, IIRC, to music licensing issues.

And Cold Case is one, too. It's a really great show, but they when they do flashback scenes, they always play period music which would be a butt to license. They could change it, but it just wouldn't be the same. It's not like it's WKRP, where no one watched it for the music. The music is big part of Cold Case.

Maybe he felt music was a big part of WKRP like most fans do? That's what I would guess anyway.

Re: The Wonder Years?

If they did release Wonder Years, I'm sure it would be after TONS of music changes.

Screw that...they might as well keep it in the vault. I will hold onto my set of dvds where someone recorded them from abc family channel. Not great quality but hey....better than not having the series.

Yeah, I should consider recording it whenever it's running on the Christian channel here, which it is at the moment. I can gather all episodes in digital quality and chronologize them afterwards.

You're guess would be correct.

I also assumed SpottedFeather was joking saying the music was more integral to an episode of Cold Case than WKRP, but I guess I was wrong, lol.

I used to watch this show all the time when they aired it on TV, but it's been so long and I've seen lots more since that I probably wouldn't remember what the original soundtrack was. Of course, if they were to release it with different music I may have some nostalgic feelings and think "that's different than I remember" but at least I had the series dammit! Bottom line, I would rather have the show with new music than not at all. I don't think I could pay an outrageous price for something I know someone recorded off cable.

Re: The Wonder Years?

In case anyone is interested and hasn't heard...

The Wonder Years will return to TV on Oct 11th on the Discovery Kids Channel (Channel 179 on Dish). It will begin airing nightly at 9pm eastern and the episode will repeat at 3am. Not sure yet if it will air on weekends.

The DVD's may not becoming out but at least now I can record the episodes I need to complete my collection.

/\ Yeah, I noticed that, although my onscreen program guide will not provide episode info. Hopefully they are starting from the beginning.

They are always broadcasting the 60s Batman series weeknights starting the 11th.

Re: The Wonder Years?

^ Tvguide.com has the first 4 episodes listed and they are the first four in the original broadcast order. So far so good.

Re: The Wonder Years?

Discovery Kids Channel is being relaunched as The Hub on October 10.

A long with The Wonder Years and Batman, they are also running a few other classic sitcoms including Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, Family Ties and Doogie Howser, MD (first time on US television since the 90's?).

Having seen the WKRP episodes with their original music and then seeing the reruns with the changed music, I don't get what everyone is so upset about. Watching the episodes with changed music, I couldn't, with only one or two exceptions, tell anything was changed. Who watched WKRP for the music ? Didn't we all watch it for the characters and funny situations ? I can't recall any funny situations that had to do with a particular song.

Re: The Wonder Years?

Unfortunately, I only have the basic Dish plan so I don't get the Discovery Kids channel, however it may be time to upgrade to the next plan for TWY.
