Criterion to release Fincher's The Game
According to The Digital Bits Criterion has licensed The Game.
Been waiting for a decent release of this for like forever. |
Re: Criterion to release Fincher's The Game
From Digital Bits;
And in other news from around the Net, DVD producer David Prior has apparently revealed (here at Home Theater Forum) that Criterion has licensed David Fincher's The Game from Universal. So... fingers crossed... we might finally see a truly worthy special edition of The Game on DVD and Blu-ray in the months ahead. |

Now Criterion needs to hurry and announce Following and Fish Tank.

Hmmm... wonder if it was something like "issue <i>The Game</i> and that eventually gets you <i>The Social Network</i>".

"The Game" as in that Michael Douglas flick from the late 90s?
Good film. |

Don't mind Social Network joining the collection as long as its more Zodiac and less Ben Button. |

Don't mind Social Network joining the collection as long as its more Zodiac and less Ben Button. In reality, David Prior himself has said that the Benjamin Button disc was no different than any of his other discs and that Criterion's involvement was literally nothing but branding for prestige. As such I won't lose any sleep over whether or not Sony decides to pay Criterion to use their trademarks on a disc that will be produced by Prior either way. Now with The Game, on the other hand, it makes sense to include Criterion because they released the film on laserdisc so they're already well on their way in regards to supplements. With Prior busy with other discs they'll need that old stuff. Ultimately if there's a director around who doesn't need the Criterion treatment it's Fincher. Since this movie has always been the red-headed stepchild of his filmography as far as home video is concerned I'm glad that Criterion is stepping in in this case but I don't think we ever have to worry about getting anything but an extravagant DVD and Blu-ray release of a Fincher film from here on out, no thNks to Criterion. |

I wish this would come out. Watching it on Showtime HD now and it isn't even in HD much less widescreen!!!!! This sucks.
