Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 6th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/3

I feel like the challenge has finally really started for me today. I had a wedding to go to last night (at least it's not 3 like last year) and had a houseguest for a few days. Houseguest is now gone and wedding is over, so I've finally been able to start some marathon viewing. Since I'm currently unemployed, I should be able to make up for my lost time pretty quickly. I'd still like to at least hit 100.

Chad, nice job with the trivia question.

So far looks like no one is going crazy with 10+ movies everyday.

ok, I have a question. Has anyone seen the film "Splice"? imdb says it's a scifi thriller but I'd almost put it in the horror genre as well. Anyone here agree with this statement or no? Kinda makes me think of species meets the orphan.

If I followed my note at the end of last year's challenge to finish the second half of my Decrepit Crypt of Nightmares, 50 movie set, I'd probably be able to do one or two days like that. They're almost all stupid shorter indie films, so trying to crank them all out to get them over with is better.

Right now I have absolutely zero plans for even wanting to touch that set again but if I finish everything else in my list, plus the first 3 Blind Dead movies, since I have the 4th one on my list, I'll begrudgingly pull it out.

I have not seen Splice, but it involves aliens or genetic mutations going on a rampage, so I don't see why it should not count. I'd also do what others have been saying and go by your own instinct on what you think is and is not considered genre fare for the challenge. I wouldn't put all my faith in the imdb.com listings, since they have been guilty of removing the horror tags from plenty of obviously horror films, though I noticed some tags have been restored.

...and to put it simply, just watch Splice and enjoy instead of worrying about if it qualifies or not. I don't think anyone is going to complain about it being added on the list for the challenge. It certainly was advertised as a 'scary movie' in the trailers, and the most important thing is to just have fun!

Is "Jonah Hex" pushing it?

That trivia quesion was a lot harder than I expected. I don't know why, I guess with this bunch you have to make it tough.

Have been busy working all day today. Waiting five or six more minutes for my last video of the day to render and then I can head home and try to get in a couple movies, but I might have to go back to work tonight.

I just meant was as in, I was hoping I would know the answer, but only know a couple. I just gave up on it, knowing that there are some people around here who are going to do much better than I will.

I was kind of relieved to see that. Everyone is being normal this year

I'm keeping my goal at a realistic 2-3 a day if possible.

Also I know many were on the fence about it but I finished watched Orphan for the first time. That film was completely bat-shit crazy.

a few days of that is one thing... the people who do it everyweek are the ones that crack me up. But like I said... so far so good

I started off so well...now I feel like I hit a wall. My 3-mile run this morning felt more like a 30-mile run. Must be the OHMC Gravitational Hold. Oh, well, guess I'll sit and enjoy some Ice Road Truckers for a change of pace.

Mondo Kane: I appreciate your Joe Bob Briggs style tallies at the end of each day! I toyed with that myself first day but got tired of counting the number of breasts in each film.

I Married a Monster from Outer Space ended up being better than the title would lead be to believe.

Now I'm getting ready to start The Others in about 15 minutes.

Hints:
1. The lightning and the crystal ball are not inluded.
2. Two images are from the same film.
3. Some are taken from the film's foreign poster.

It should also be mentioned that there's actually 17 answers if you count the movie that's on there twice, well, twice. I was listing it once. And some images are put together in a way that might make them appear as if they come from the same poster when they're actually from two separate films.

Yeah, that one is stuck with a stinker title, but it's actually substantially above-average drive-in fare, with angsty, impotent aliens and some nice atmospheric photography.

so, anyone seen any good movies with gratuitous nudity in yet? I mean, besides the killing, isn't that the point of at least half the horror movies?

Just looking for some Netflix suggestions really lol

Thanks. Ironically, I have to thank the ending of Mothman Prophecies to help me out with a number tonight BTW, It was discussed last year on how I was exactly tallying the bodycount numbers. Am I including "Undead" beings like vampires, zombies, etc? Only if we actually see them die first. And the only time I'll count random zombies is when they get killed for good (But this is capable in resulting in mind-overkill as was demonstrated in my viewings of Planet Terror and Resident Evil:Extinction!)

I feel that this is also the first challenge where I've had more free time than ever to view movies (Or at least untill by the end of next week)

Some of my previous "Nekkidness" winners:

Devil Hunter (Breast-meter went off the scale with this one! Although I don't think Netflix carries the new Severin release)
Night of the Hunted
Slaughter Hotel
(A personal nudie fav)
Bloody Murder 2: Closing Camp with Tiffany Shepis
Strip Nude For Your Killer (Kind of a dead giveaway there)
Nude For Satan (Ditto)
Dracula-The Dirty Old Man

This reminds me...I need to see more nunsploitation....
