Fangoria Frightfest 9/28
Who's interested in this set? I may try a few when they get released on 9/28.
Seems like they will be pretty gory at least by reading a few of the titles from Amazon. They should be great for the up coming horror challenge in October.

I might check out Pig Hunt, but probably won't be blind buying these.

I watched Grimm Love today and hoped for more. It was slow and down right boring. The movie was less than satisfactory...I could not recommend it to anybody.

The Haunting was pretty good. Probably the best of the ones I saw so far. This had really good production value and I thought the story was interesting throughout.
I rather enjoyed Fragile for what it was. Not the best movie of the bunch, but it was certainly creepy. It deals with a hospital with an abandoned second floor and was done with some money so it looked good. I rather enjoyed it.
I couldn't tell if Dark House was trying to be campy like Drag Me to Hell or if it was just plain bad. I am teetering towards the bad column, though Jeffery Combs turns in a heckuva performance.

Anybody here get any of these yet? I already mentioned Fragile and The Haunting. Good, but not worth owning. I didn't feel like I wasted my time on renting them, however. The rest of them? Most of them have been done before in other movies and done better. There was nothing great in this batch like Pontypool or the Martyrs. I would think there are good small horror movies out there looking for distribution and Fangoria picks this lot? Most of the times movies released like this are hit and miss, but most of these were miss, I'm afraid.

If you check your On Demand section under Shows and Specials their is a 34 minute Behind the Scenes of all the movies. Their are also 45 minute interviews with John Carpenter, Wes Craven, Robert Englund, and one more director plus trailers of all the movies.
I have Cablevision in NJ so it might be called something different on other cable companies but the category title is Fangoria Frightfest.

I'm watching the John Carpenter interview and their are some great stories. I recommend every horror fan check out these interviews.
The last interview is with Don Mancini who wrote and directed the Child's Play movies.

I saw both Fragile and Grimm Love like 2 years ago, I'm surprised to see them finally get a DVD release.
Grimm Love was shit but Fragile was really good, I thought. Great atmosphere.

I watched Road Kill and Hunger yesterday. Road Kill was pretty bad. I enjoyed Hunger though.

Dark House was decent, if nothing particularly special. The Haunting was a bit frustrating. It took a while to get going and actually start making sense. Once everything came together, it worked really well.

Fragile I have seen though bought it from overseas about 2 years ago... I like it quite a bit actually.

Pig Hunt was fun. Not quite what I was expecting. Based on the cover, I was expecting something similar to Razorback. What I got was something that was just all over the place. I dug it though.

I watched Grimm Love today. Really not good. Like someone else said, it was very slow and boring. For a movie about cannibalism, it wasn't quite what I was expecting.

From the few I've rented from blockbuster so far (thank you coke points for the free rentals) :
Dark House: Silly, campy, reminded me of Feardotcom in that its so bad its good. Its the kind of movie you would watch again wasted if you got it for free from a place like swap a dvd.
Grimm Love: Rental at best. Slow moving, more drama than horror. Its from the guy who did the hills have eyes 2, nuff said.
Fragile: Why didn't this come out in theaters? I loved it. I'd buy this. Good creepy stuff. did you like the orphanage? i think you'd like this too.
Pig Hunt: Also campy, and broad. Gore filled and fun. How many giant pig movies do we get? I'd buy this too. I'll loved the hillbilly music too. Some nice nudity too.
Road Kill: Ugh pass on this. Aussie stuck in a truck flick. At first I thought it was weird and I liked it a bit, but it just dragged until I didn't care any more. Nothing special here.
The Haunting: I will rent this with my next free rental coupon.
Haven't seen Hunger or the tomb.

The wife and I wrapped up this series with The Tomb tonight. Pretty terrible IMO. I'd rank the flicks in this order...
Fragile
Pig Hunt
Hunger
The Haunting
Dark House
Grimm Love
Road Kill
The Tomb
Fragile
Pig Hunt
Hunger
The Haunting
Dark House
