Mr. Wong, Boris Karloff dvds

Hello Friends!!

A company back in '99 called ROAN put out the complete set of Mr. Wong films starring Boris Karloff. In '08 VCI released the entire set as well. Question is, what set is better quality? I checked a couple of reviews and they said that both transfers aren't the greatest but still pretty decent. However, none of the reviews stated which set had the edge. Anyone know which set is better overall? Thanx.

Don't know which has the edge, but I have the ROAN version and am very happy. I was actually privileged to talk to Mr. Roan when the company was still in business (it has since been bought by Troma). I was really impressed on his pride of his work - his family literally cleaned each frame of the 35 mm film stock before the DVD transfer. Now, THAT is a family business.

here is the VCI review http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/mrwong.php

Personally, I don't think there is that much difference in the PQ

Thanx Steve!! I might just buy the VCI version since the ROAN is out-of-print.
